Description
Archaeaoharpies are a species related to Archaeans, but smaller and less intelligent. They live in wild flocks in populated areas, and are treated anywhere from pests to valued members of the community. They're mostly carnivorous, and will eat hotdogs, pigeons, and pretty much anything they can find.In urban areas, they tend to form territorial groups, called flocks, squabblings, or thieveries, that operate like gangs with a friendly rivalry- play-fighting and displaying for the best street vendors' spots, the prime rooftops for snatching trinkets, and the best shelters for stormy weather.
Archaeoharpies will dress themselves up with stolen swag- jewelry, shirts, scarves, etc.- sometimes as a ragtag uniform in their flocks, or as a matter of personal decoration. Like magpies, they'll sometimes steal and collect shiny things, sometimes forming vast hoards of pilfered riches.
Archaeans and humans will sometimes bring archaeoharpies into their homes, somewhere between pets and adopted children. The archaeoharpies don't seem to care, and any number of harpies can get along as there's adequate food and shelter. The archaeoharpies don't mind being kept in captivity, often saying something like, "As long as I have food, I don't care." (Think the text conversations between the guy and his dog or cat for intelligence level.)
Trait Rarities and Prices-
MYO- 150
Custom- 250
Traits:
-Tail Traits-
-Tail feathers spread from one point, like birds. Shapes can vary, but this is the basic form.
-Like prehistoric feathered creatures, the feathers fan out along a long, bony tail.
-Like archaeans, the tail feathers form a fan at the base of the tail and another fan or small frond at the tip of a long tail.
-The tail feathers form a fan or frond at the very end of a long tail.
-Neck Feather Traits-
-The neck is free of feathers.
-There is a collar of fine feathers between the heck and the chest.
-The entire neck is covered in long, thick feathers. This includes a regular pigeon's fluff.
-A few long, decorative feathers hang down from behind the ears.
-The neck and chest have a ruff of stiff, upward-facing feathers, forming a high collar behind the head.
-Ear Traits-
-A small tuft of feathers covering the ear hole.
-A humanlike, pointed, cartiliganous outer ear.
-No covering on the ear hole.
-Several layers of large feathers over and behind the ear.
-A smaller winged ear with tendrilled fancy feathers.
-Foot Traits-
-A thin layer of feathers over the skin of the legs. When higher up, the rest of the leg is covered in scales.
-The leg is covered in fine, soft, long feathers. Fluffy feet are included in this.
-The legs and feet are covered in developed feathers, ranging from a small fan at the foot to a winglike layering.
-Three toes in the front, one in the back.
-A bony, sharp spur used in fights with other archaeoharpies.
-Three toes in the front, one positioned like a thumb. Can be used as such for grasping.
-Head Feather Traits-
-Short, limp feathers swept back.
-A line of stiff feathers down the center of the head, surrounded by smaller feathers.
-Longer limp feathers, which can be tied back, braided, or otherwise styled.
-A crest at the top and center of the head which can be raised and lowered at will.
-Two tufts of prominent feathers, with shorter feathers covering the rest of the head.
A mohawk crest, with the feathers growing upwards.
-Body Feathers-
The body may be feathered in this range! The back will ALWAYS be covered in feathers, but the front can vary.
-Other Traits-
All Super F*ckin Rare!
-Horns of any kind on the head. One set only per trait slot!
-A set of arms beneath the wings, causing the archaeoharpy to resemble an Archaean.
-An extra set of wings.
-A line of bony spikes down the archaeoharpy's back.
Archaeoharpies are a closed species! While I by no means own harpies, their lore and interaction with the Archaean universe is what makes them special. You cannot make an archaeoharpy for free (though common ones will be cheap.)

Okay but can we just appreciate the fact that you went from them eating hotdogs to pigeons in the space of two words.
I imagined one flock of them brutally tearing apart pigeons while a 'more civilised' group just looks at them in disgust and very poshly eat hotdogs with monocles and top hats (although 100% probably not what they're like at all from what I read LOL)
I also imagined them aggressively bopping up and down like a bird dancing to music while standing on a mound of shiny things when I got to the magpie bit and it made me giggle lmao
