Description Have you ever gone and looked at the first regeneration back in 1966? it’s awesome. There’s just one problem. When you see the surviving stills and footage of the 2nd doctor’s first episode he sit up and he’s already in the majority of his new costume.

I always wanted to see Troughton staggering around in Hartnell’s costume. This is my response to that want. I used the New Who Effect on the classic way of regenerating. (The classic way being the old doctor falls down and the new one sits up). Just because it looked cooler and more dramatic than just having him sitting there.

So here he is the 1st new doctor so new he hasn’t even stopped glowing yet. And hasn’t had time to change.

I hope you like it

Regeneration, it’s the single best thing in Sciences Fiction ever.

I think the reason they did that was because 2 was meant to be like a Hyde to 1's Jekyll - smaller and rougher (except Troughton and Hartnell were about the same size so they just gave him really baggy clothes). To be fair they hadn't exactly planned it all out by this point.

Really like it i wish the 2nd doctor did wear the 1st doctor's clothes and then wore his 2nd doctor's clothes then.

Perhaps the laziness of Troughton already being in his costume in the final scenes of An Adventure in Time and Space give off the wrong impression, but I don't think you're giving Power of the Daleks enough credit. There certainly seems to be enough evidence from the surviving clips that Troughton was using Hartnell's wardrobe in his first scenes. Just look at this clip, it clearly looks like 1's cape and long-bow necktie to me.

Well he's defiantly in 1's cape and wearing his ring (so that it can fall off his finger later). But if you look at other images he is clearly in his shirt, bow tie and trousers pretty much everything but his jacket. What you have mistaken to be The 1st Doctors cravat is the tassels tying the cape round his neck. Don't get me wrong I like seeing what parts we still have of the 1st post regeneration scene and for the 1st time trying this crazy concept its really well done, but it just always bugged me that he wasn't in the 1st Doctors costume.

It helps that his outfit was rather similar to that of Hartnell's, something Pertwee's Doctor and beyond managed to avert.

Yeah, it's weird this in this first ever regeneration, his body changes and yet so does his clothes as if they are a part of his body, yet it never happens again, he just changes clothes after by wearing whatever he finds or heads off straight to the Tardis wardrobe, and not even an explanation for why the 1st Doctors changed into the 2nd Doctors clothes during the regeneration was even given as far as I know.

Still, clothes that can regenerate themselves. Saves time getting changed

I grew up watching Classic Who, so I remember when the regenerations didn't have the glowing light. You've done a great job drawing Patrick Troughton, and he actually looks rather good in One's clothes.

I'm watching all the classic episodes for the first time through, and saw this episode for the first time a few days ago.

Word on the last statement, most brilliant way to explain why there's a new actor in the lead role, god bless whoever thought up that concept.

I wish they'd had the skill and budget to do this type of regeneration every time. I think it's more or less the effect they intended to portray originally, but just like the time vortex or the wormholes on Stargate they experimented with it over the years until they settled on something they liked. In my mind this is how Romana regenerated.

Yaaay! You've draw him again <3! It's true that with the lost of this episode, we don't have a clear picture of Pat inside of the First Doctor's clothes .

I love the first regeneration but this would be really cool as an alternative version. I think Romana could have done with one of these too
