whoa homie i always get so baffled on people wanting free art. so sorry you gotta deal with that. like, its one thing to be like "oh sorry i can't pay that but thanks" but a whole nother to act like its unreasonable you get compensated fairly.

I understand exactly how you feel about people wanting your hard work for free.
Like last month someone messaged me about wanting a fullbody pic of two people.
They wanted it in full color, shaded, and with a complex background. But when I
sent them the price for a picture like that they got mad at me.
Our conversation basically went like this:
"Okay that will be $68."
"What?! That's way too much. I'll give you $15."
"Uh, the price isn't negotiable. It's still $68."
"That price is ridiculous! You're ripping people off!"
"Um, no I'm not. A lot of time, effort, and work goes into pictures of that size."
"Please, you could finish my picture in one day if you worked hard."
"Yeah I know! You're paying me for an ENTIRE DAY of work! So technically the price should be higher but I'm being nice and selling it for only $68. But if you want to pay me an entire day's wage then please, feel free."
"Look, I'll give you $25, but that's as high as I'll go."
"Oh my god. I'm not drawing a picture that requires a whole day (or MORE) of work for just twenty-five dollars! That you think I would is crazy!"
"I don't know why you're acting like it'd be so hard! Drawing is so easy!"
"Well if it's so fucking easy then why don't you draw the picture yourself?!"
After that I told them to kindly fuck off and blocked them. I seriously can't understand why people think A CUSTOMIZED PIECE OF ART is something that should be just given to them for pennies (or god forbid, free!). Like nah, this is a LUXURY ITEM a-hole. You think you'd get a Ferrari for free? Or a gourmet meal for cheap? Hell no, you have to pay for them like everyone else does!

Yeah I understand that completely, a few conversations I've had with people went along something like that.
My full bodied, completely shaded, couple, BG AND animation is £20. That's the highest people will pay for my work.
Find it somewhat disgusting due to the fact my eyes were bloodshot from working all those hours on these commissions.
Almost feels like slavery, people are so rude and expect maximum quality with the littlest of payment (most reach for free
or try and persuade you into doing requests but I tell them no fucking way).
I'm pretty tired of it and the treatment we get when we price our work that of an average wage and get called ''scammers'' because of it.

You should charge more for your stuff. I've seen it and it's very good. The style and colors are gorgeous.
And if people don't wanna pay a fair price for your hard work then you shouldn't sell it to them for less.
You think Rolls Royce has ever lowered the price of one of their cars just because nobody could afford them???
Hell no, they kept the price in the same range (or raised it depending on the economy) and people recognized that
the cars were a damn luxury and that if they wanted one they'd have to get their shit together and pay full price.

You aren't wrong, not entirely sure how much would be considered fair though to price.
But I need to increase the price anyway because people are buying pixel icons for £15 and over
and that's the same price I'm offering for my fullbodies, animated background commissions which take days to complete.
Which is somewhat concerning.

I used to charge way less but after a while I knew I was practically giving
my art away with those prices so I raised it to the price it is now.
