This is exactly what I was hoping wouldn't happen. The franchise can't afford to have him around due to overwhelming negative responses and so a goldmine of an idea was buried and all we have to show for all of our efforts to dig it up is the result of a great idea shot down and a sad Flash Sentry who is not holding up well. Essentially, the truly Forgotten Friendship here is...well...something that's very saddening to see. It's like a musical instrument that never got to play even a single sound. Whatever potential it may have had was squandered, abandoned, and wasted. 5 years later, and he's so rusted that he's unfortunately better off silent...
This is all your faults, people. The Bronies broke my boy! I'm actually both saddened and angered by this... Because this is what Hatred does. It damages. It holds back. It keeps Light from shining through. It gets in the way of Love; something that builds... But NOOOO! It's called "FRIENDSHIP is Magic"! Nobody wants "Love"! Except "Love" and "Friendship" fall under the same freaking category! UGH!!! Had Hasbro and DHX actually done something right with him, they really could have built something great...but... *Sighs*
At least Sunset acknowledged him...for all that it's worth...Β

The way I see it, they've struck gold with their shovels but only a small amount. They COULD dig deeper to find the treasure trove...but they're afraid of the dark so they refuse and even go as far as to bury what they dug up because they fear the unknown and don't dare to continue because there's a bunch of scary monsters in the cave. Well, to be honest pony Flash and human Flash aren't the same character so, it's the human one I care about. Pony Flash didn't have any real relationship with Twilight. He find the attractive but that's it. The same gose for Twilight and Sci-Twi, so I don't blame Hasbro for giving her Timber and not making her fall for human Flash.

If you're so incensed over Flash Sentry not getting the development you prefer, write your own fanfic with him in it. Minor characters always get the short end of the stick.

Anyone can write Flash as a better character. That's not the problem.
The problem is what Hasbro is doing with him. Or rather, NOT doing with him. Their idea of Flash being Twilight's love interest was so poorly developed, and lazily written, you might just say they didn't try at all. And even after four movies and one special, they STILL aren't trying. When a character is first written as a love interest, they'd automatically fall under the title of supportive characters. He was Sunset's opposite. While she was the villain, Flash was the ally. You'd think he'd play some part in the lives of our heroines in some form or another. Instead he's there to say something, do nothing and leave. That ALL he is.
These are supposed to be good Writers! With characters like Spike, Big Mac, Shining Armor, Timber Spruce and Capper, why is Flash Sentry the ONLY character they struggle with? It's impossible. No character is that hard to write.
The only logical answer, is that the negative fan reaction towards Flash scared Hasbro so much, they are simply too afraid to make any progress with him.

I couldnβt stay silent seeing someone throw a disproportionate fit over a minor character in the show with no self awareness. That kind of behavior is an invitation to ridicule.
I guess I commented as a means to try and get the poster to take a look at themselves and reevaluate their stance on things. That, and Iβve learned to laugh at crap like this since embracing my inner snarker a couple of years back. No point in getting mad or annoyed with misguided immature crap like this when you can laugh and mock the hell out of it.
