The hate jokes are not funny. They've never been funny. They're NEVER going to funny! And one can only put up with them for so long and 3 years is a long time. You already know my stance on Flash Sentry as a character and that hasn't changed in the slightest bit. I'm GLAD that the writer of this new movie decided to give Flash some screen time for some legit character interaction for the 5th short. Here's hoping he can continue with that in the movie itself. Maybe NOW the haters can shut up! Because seriously, this has gotten so old that it's already planning for its funeral!Related content

I think the bad thing about all this is that the writers seem to be listening to the fans and giving him less and less screen time and trying to turn him into a joke of the Yamcha level considering the deleted scene they had in Slice of Life and the put down scenes in Friendship Games.

WHY U BRONIES HATE F. SENTRY?!It's so mature how they're bashing the hell out of Megan McCarthy and immediately giving the most recent episode a 0/10 just because Flash Sentry appeared for about 5 seconds.
This is just as annoying as the Alicorn Twilight drama. Geez, so you'reΒ literally saying the show is ruined forever just because a character you don't like made a short cameo? What sense does that make? You hate this ENTIRE episode not because of the story, characters, and execution but just because a certain character showed up for literally less than a minute? He didn't even open his MOUTH to speak and yet everybody's going apeshit over it.Β
What is up with all the HATRED with Flash Sentry in the first place? Okay, I get people dislike him because they don't like the idea of Twilight getting a boyfriend. That makes sense. But literally wanting to MURDER Flash just for being Twilight's love interest because you'd rather have Twilight with Rainbow Dash or yourΒ shittyΒ OC? Don') reasons that in my opinion, are just excuses, just for have "Twilight all for me (referred to them)".

Yeah. To be honest, I was still none too pleased with Flash for making Twilight cry in Rainbow Rocks, which I believe is the main reason for all the hate towards EG Flash. But seriously, people, if you're going to find someone to blame, DON'T go looking for scapegoats to take your anger out on! Especially in Flash's case when the ones who were truly at fault were The Dazzlings themselves! THEY'RE the ones who bewitched everyone at Canterlot High and Flash! And last I checked, their enchanting music can cause their victims to go nuts and fight each other, allowing the Dazzlings to take their negative emotions to nourish themselves (kind of like Queen Chrysalis in this sense, only she feeds on positive emotions like love).
All in all, blame The Dazzlings for being the ultimate cause of Twilight crying!

He did. And it was under the EXACT same circumstances. Yet people didn't mind that much with Shining Armor. So they have no excuse. I've even pointed this out in one of my past stories that was about Rainbow Rocks.
Oh, yeah! There was also that one time that someone in their RIGHT mind who actually made Twilight cry didn't get any flack for it either. You know who that was? Applejack from "Winter Wrapup"! And how many fucks did the fanbase give? ZERO! NONE! Not a one! Neigh Neigh Neigh!Β
Yet Flash Sentry, who's NOT in his right mind due to being brainwashed, does that thing and all of a sudden, he gets blown to hell for it by the fanbase!Β
Can I ask where the logic is?Β

Let's not forget Sunset Shimmer. She made Twilight cry in Friendship Games and never apologized to her for it. Well, it was Human Twilight, but still. And of course, the fanbase didn't seem to care.

If you don't count the part where she tried to reason with Twilight, transformed and faced her demon to save her, offered her hand in friendship as, and help her get her to know a new group as a way of apologizing, she could very well have apologized offscreen.

Sometimes you just gotta use your imagination and assume. I think that's what Josh Haber intended. It's a good trait to have when you're a writer. You take your audience seriously by leaving some things to the imagination for the viewers so that they can come up with their own ideas. I may have hacked on Josh Haber in the past, but I truthfully respect any and all writers that respect their audience.Β

I can't be a spokesman of all the haters, besides which I'm not truly a hater of Flash Sentry, but seeing that his sole purpose to exist is as Twilight Sparkle's love interest...
We've watched Twilight develop together, she's never even remotely shown any interest in characters of the opposite gender besides Spike and her brother. There's a joke comic that had Flash come to the pony verse and he pretty much looked like Shining Armor... and that's because he feels like that except without the history or blood relation, effectively making him worthless. BTW, before the 3rd movie shorts, can you even describe Flash as anything other than Twilight's crush? The short featuring him at least capitalised in the one personality trait he showed in Rainbow Rocks... the music obsession that every other student had because of the whole battle of the bands. IOW, Flash's purpose in life outside Twilight is non-existent until recently, and that's beyond sad.
Personally, I take my ships seriously (which is much sadder, really) so seeing the Twilight we loved fawning over this one guy she bumped into, for no reason other than maybe hormones, felt irritating and cheap. Conversely, when I saw Flash and BonBon bake bread instead of a cake, I found that incredibly exciting! Even though BonBon/Lyra is the proper OTP, this little moment got my imagination running for the possibilities! Either way, let haters hate and if it results in Flash getting proper treatment (or ignored more by SciTwi and Derpy tries to cheer him up) then all the better. You honestly have them to thank for the short.
