I'm guilty of making that mistake. I gave a girl too much space before and rarely called. I know next time not to make that mistake again. So PLEASE! If you're in a relationship, do NOT neglect to call! Your partner will want to talk to you whether it be in person, on skype, or on the phone! Keep in touch and talk! Don't give them too much space or you'll seem like your just neglecting them. Don't be too clingy, though, otherwise you'll end up becoming an annoyance. Try to balance it the best you can so you and your boyfriend/girlfriend and you will both be happy.
