just a quick sketch ...various pencils, eraser, makeup wedge, charcoal. about 90 minutes. Haven't drawn with a pencil in years.Related content

I used to do pencil portraits, but switched to painting with acrylics last year. I like painting a lot better because it makes the subjects stand out more.

Yup! Was a little worried because it was done relatively quickly, and I didn't think I captured him quite enough. Plus I messed up a couple times with using the darker pencil and I couldn't erase it. Gotta be careful with pencil. But, I never been super great with shading with pencils anyway, was more of a watercolor person in high school. Though, I look back at old water colors and think they are kind of crappy. I'd like to try more watercolors out sometime, but there's a reason I do digital. Art is a hobby and hobby only right now, so gotta keep fit it in a tight schedule. And, for me it's more about the result, not how long it took or how difficult it was to do.
