Okay, so "All that remains" is probably the quest that stands out the most from the entire game for me, as I'm sure it does for a lot of people. I felt genuine panic when I heard someone had sent white lilies to my mother, the serial killer's calling card.
Once it was all over, a heavy weight fell on my shoulders, and I went as fast as I could to the DA wiki to see if there was something I could have done differently to save her...but alas, doomed by canon.
I applaud Bioware for making yet another moment of a gosh darn video game that brings me close to tears.
Also on an somewhat unrelated matter, God Dammit Anders!
The quote is Spike from Buffy the Vampire slayer, from a scene that has stuck with me for a long time as spike reveals his guilt over being unable to save Buffy in the previous season. Guilt can eat away at your soul as you drown in what-ifs and could-have-beens.

That's it exactly. I've done 4 complete playthru's and am on my 5th . . . this scene still makes me sad. And yeah, Maker DAMN YOU ANDERS! I adore and hate that mage.

In a sick way, it's a slight improvement to Mass Effect 2. As long as you are thorough and clever, nothing bad actually happens to Shepard personally. In DA2, no matter what u do, or how smart you are, All that Remains happens. Nothing like losing a family member who's had actual conversations with you rather than being a name with a face to punch you in the gut emotionally.

I completely agree, it does the whole no matter what things just happen and you can't change it. And saying the right thing won't make it change or stop. And I love it all.

I was actually a little touched by Isabella's attempt to comfort me (as I had not finished romancing Merril at the time.) It surprised me that I actually felt a little grateful for her trying.
