Description So I've decided to post some more sketches. I'm presently in a figure study class, and so a lot of my sketches involve the figure. Because of this, I have decided to arrange them, and show the process of learning to draw the figure. This is the 1st, and only G Rated Set. (By G Rated, I mean there are no exposed body parts in this one.)

So this is the first Step to learning how to draw the figure. You start from your imagination. You take the Figure, and begin to draw them in different poses. These are highly animated sketches, and so they don't have to be entirely correct. The idea here, is to get an understanding of the ratio of parts around one another. You can see how they correspond next to each other.

These are called Cambiaso Figure Studies. Cambiaso was an artist who took the human figure, and turned it into something we all know. Boxes. By looking at the figure as a series of boxes, we can easily translate how they should fit together. I mean, if you had to draw a cube, you could do it right? It's the basic of basic art.

So By using the Cambiaso Figure form to create different poses, you can begin to create dimension in each piece. You notice that these figures have some form to them. Yep, Cambiaso.

So reference is a great way to start, but if you want to draw it straight out of your head I would suggest drawing the human form with shapes first. Cylinders, boxes, and other 3D shapes make up the basic human form. They are easy to draw in perspective, so once you've got the basic structure, all you need to do is add on the skin features.

Hope this helps. Sorry I don't have anything that's I can reference right now.

Yeah! That's my favorite too. I feel like I might try to make it into a real piece at some point!

Oh you should. I mean when you can, I understand. I have at least 10 art projects I want to do but am unsure if I can find time.
