Description
What are the purpose of drawing poses? Poses are creates to help to create a story, show an emotion, and idea! The most expressive parts of the body are the face and hands, but that doesn't mean we should forget about rest of the body. Here I've taken a couple of different emotions and incorporated them into my idea of what they might look like.1. Love 2. Dramatic Falling 3.Disgust 4.Excited 5.Depression 6.Anger 7.Determination. But this is jsut one possible pose for each emotion. Each of these emotions have infinate possible poses that could all communicate just as well.
When creating comics, (I often fail at this), acting is important. You are trying to show the character doing, saying, or acting in a certain way. Subtle hints often get lost, and so the acting has to be dramatic! the more dramatic a character is, the stronger they communicate with the audiance. Think about how in B movies, Actors overly exaggerate everything. That is how comics are supposed to be created. Does this mean every scene should be overly exaggerated? No, but this is a good way to start.
I think I might start making pose sets that express a single emotion, that way there is a broad range of possible examples for that single emotion.
Traditionally drawn, Inked over in Photoshop
BTW this is a Free2Use Base. If you want to use any of these poses Go right on ahead! This is available for download. If you do use it please have a link to this in the description. Something that says

These look really good, but I'm having a personal problem: I have two OCs who could make use for one of the poses, but I don't know if I should either modify the pose by either holding spray cans or some spiritual energy.

The second pose is my favorite. I think I have seen some teenage boys doing it before.

XD Thank you! It's funny, the second one is based off something my brother did, and he should be a thespian!

I was watching a Qa with Jim Lee, one of my favorite comic book artists, a few weeks ago. He was asked why, in his opinion, his art is so popular? He said something that really struck with me. He said, it doesn't matter how good you are at details, or anatomy, or for a certain medium, the trick to why his work is so good is that he poses his characters as dynamically as possible in action poses, but as dramatically as possible in non-action panels. That really stuck with me, especially since I am studying animation, and animation is really just a sequence of dramatic poses strung together.

That is really brilliant! I love this whole comment!
Now that I'm studying Sequential art every professor has stressed this idea so much. They hate boring posing and that is one of the first things they say (although Anatomy is a close second). I think it's because body language is just as important, if not more important, than regular language. You can communicate so much with just a pose, and as human beings we relate to that more!
