I know that the chances of an awesome scene in the Jumanji reboot are not even really worth hoping for.But I can't keep from daydreaming about it.
From what I understand, it's like a video game, where the characters can lose lives and respawn.
How cool could that potentially be?
Ruby Roundhouse (or whatever they call her) could drown in quicksand completely, and reappear to be eaten by a plant, spiders, etc. or even something worse if she runs into some tribal libidos.
I'm discouraged because I know they'll fuck it up, but until it comes out I'm looking forward to something, anything.

So upon seeing more trailers and reviews I suppose your assumptions are correct, none of the more memorable things like man-eating plants from the first Jumanji movie. Hell from how one critic states, there's LESS killer flora & fauna and more violent mercenaries they end up fighting, which now reminds me more of FarCry then Jumanji

Peril is pretty much the premise of the movie. They go from one peril to another, trying to survive until the end. Especially if it's true about respawning; it effectively gives them license to do whatever they want. With that said, I tend to agree with you that they won't give us anything good for Karen. I suspect it will be like Skull Island, another one that had many opportunities to have a hot peril scene but came up empty. It seems they are going out of their way to avoid such scenes because only a weak, brainless woman would sink in quicksand or be attacked by a giant plant. A strong, intelligent woman is immune to such perils because that's how quicksand works.
From what I understand, they did write it in so that through some sort of Jumanji magic, she went from little girl to Karen Gillan overnight, still wearing the same clothes, so she'll be wearing tight, a-couple-sizes-too-small outfit throughout the movie. I think that's a win but I still don't know if that will help or hurt our chances of seeing her in a good peril scene. Will the movie continue to embrace the tropes we all enjoy or will it swing the pendulum too far to the other side in effort to offset the "audacity" of a beautiful woman in a sexy outfit? We wait and see....

I remember that flower from Jimanji.
Kinda wished it could have happened to the girl in the film but I know it was done in the film to appeal to those who love seeing boys in distress instead of girls.
At least that is why deviant art is here for.
I never heard of the reboot film but I only hope there are more dangerous situations that they could play on in the film and perhaps the female characters could get wrapped up in these sort of things.
No doubt CGI would ruin the experience of the film because nothing is more better than something like a person in a monster suit doing the same thing and it is more believable when the actress can at least see what is eating her instead of trying to act when there is nothing there.
Pray it all turns out ok regardless if it is girl in distress or boy in distress.
But because of the SJW mentality in Hollywood, they may not be doing what we personally want to happen sadly.

I mean it's cute to try to be optimistic, but let's be realistic.
I am so certain that they will fuck up any opportunity to put Karen Gillian in some kind of sexy death trap (because that's all I care about, I gives a fuck about another kooky rock/hart movie) that if they surprise me and do make a halfway decent peril scene with her, I will draw you anything you want for free. As long as it's not gay or anything with furries or foot tickling.
