Description This is what consumed my whole day yesterday, and what I'm now only finishing right now. Damn wild hairs...

It's something I've thought about for a while, but up until yesterday hadn't wanted to turn into a comic. But it demanded to be done (seriously. Damn thing wouldn't even let me sit down and read.)

If I did this right, it'll make people laugh, and hopefully think a little as well.

If I did it wrong, it'll make people yell at me.

...ah, who am I kidding, people will yell at me whether I did it wrong or not.

As with everything in the entire world, there are always exceptions. And there's no accounting for asshole artists who won't give you the time of day no matter how thoughtful your comments are.

At the very least, this is true as far as I'm concerned. (Although I may be wrong. Feel free to yell if I'm wrong, and I'll apologize, curtsy, and try to be a better person.)

And while ~yumyumkitty12 doesn't currently exist (I checked), to any future yumyumkitty12's, I mean nothing personal. It's just the first name I thought of.

EDIT: Holycrap! I been DD'd! Thank you Mario ( ) for suggesting me and for featuring me! And thank you to everyone who's come along and left your wonderful comments (and faves )! I love getting to hear from new people! ^^

There is so much wonderful art on this site that it can be overwhelming to new visitors.

I was pretty poor at commenting when I first joined DA. But I have excuses!

I would look at art, and find an artist that had a great gallery of art that I really liked, and then I would look at their favorites.

And then I would look at THAT artist's gallery and THEIR favorites.
And so on, and so on. .... until I had 15 or 20 legs of search in open windows.

And then I would realize that it was 2:30 a.m. !! and I would have to get up at 6:30 a.m. for work tomorrow.

So I would favorite a whole bunch so I wouldn't loose sight of those great artists that I found...but no comments because I gotta go to bed.

Sorry I did not comment more. I didn't think that the artist cared that much about my opinion, or had that much time to spend responding to my silly comments. And I did not always think I had much more to add to the conversation when other commenters said it all before me.

I am much better about it now, and I am seriously shocked when an artist replies back. I guess since I am a "watcher" and have not submitted art, I think of myself as outside the community more.

But I have realized that artists really like comments, and I now endeavor to comment much more.

True dat! I make an effort to comment on every single piece I favorite, pointing out something in particular I like about it, simply because while a favorite is nice and all, it's nice to know someone took a minute or two to write out how theyfeel about the picture you worked hard on. (And who knows, maybe commenting on pictures might catch on more?)

For example, I love the colors you used in this comic!

Well, that seems reasonable.

I was brought here byΒ BoffinbraiN s' Comment stamp, and you two have totally changed the way i peruse DA. Now i don't even fave something unless i can leave a substantive comment, which shouldn't be hard if i rlly enjoy the piece. And honestly my favorite part of checking my DA notifications is finding feedback in there, i love that even more than faves. And usually if i favorite more than three things in an artists gallery they get a watch from me.

But you should definitely do an update of this comment and include ppl who dont fave OR comment but give you a Llama. THAT i can't stand.

This has been very a well thought out comic. Your right, I should be more thoughtful of an artist and commenting them.

Thank you so much for reminding me

I like to make people feel like other people really care. Beyond causally ignoring that they exist.
Because really, we're all just lonely inside.

I usually just don't have anything nice to say and I'm generally.. not what you call a nice person. Or thoughtful. Or caring. The artist is better off without hearing a single sentence from me.

You seem to be ashamed of your dragon drawings...but they're brilliant!
(DON'T WORRY, I don't have a fetish over them because eeeew)
I see where you're coming from, though, because your new work is better by miles, including this one!
And btw, this is my first ever fave! (There's no spam in my account)

Oh, I couldn't agree more. Lovely comic. I like how the colors match the expression of the character in each box. It's cute. ^^

Let's not forget those weirdos who actually DO come back to fav your recent work but STILL won't comment or watch you. Seriously, if you favorite EVERY deviation of theirs, watch them.

Well, this comic is brilliant, and says what I'm sure 90% of everyone that uploads stuff thinks.

Great use of facial expressions! It emphasizes the emotion used in specific parts of the dialogue and gives it humor to some degree (Idon'tknowwhattocallitIsuck). Especially the last panel. My sister looked over to see what I was laughing at.

I know what you mean! I get dozens of messages hourly in feedback, and I'm always hoping for some actual feedback. Like ways that I could do something better, honest to god critique in a single sentence or two. But nooooo, it's thirty something favourites. NOT THAT I MIND, but seriously, I won't get better unless I have that feedback. ;A;

Zappuel-LightninRod [2013-06-20 06:43:09 +0000 UTC]

I have a bit of a compromise myself, the way I do my favoriting is by going on a massive favorite spree, so basically I favorite, then run, and eventually I go back and go through my favorites and go on a commenting spree, commenting on all the things I didn't comment on.

I might... no, will be repeating what many others have probably already said... but...
I agree with this comic!
...even though I fail at leaving comments myself... but that's only because I usually find one or two comments that are similar to what I would of said...
And also, I do get favorites, and I also appreciate everyone who 'faves' one of my drawings... but I rarely get a comment on some. The comments are usually on some meme I have done in 30 minutes instead of the picture that I worked over 10 hours on...
But anyway, great comic, good advice and I love your art style!

I really find this comic relateable.
I dislike it when I log onto my dA account and see someone fave about 5 of my drawings (That doesn't mean that happens to me all the time!), yet they don't leave a single feedback. Hey, at least say something about one of my drawings!

SlytherinAcres [2013-03-28 02:06:39 +0000 UTC]

this gets all my frustrations and points across xD generally if i fave 5+ of your pieces, then its an automatic watch and by god if i don't comment on at least half of what i fave! (or at least i try to )

the-pink-dragon [2013-03-14 18:03:15 +0000 UTC]

I know this is an old deviation but holy macaroni is it a breath of fresh air. Everyone always seems to get mad when I complain about too many faves and no comments. Then again I did have one person who faved every one of a comic series and left "LOL" comments on every one. People just don't get that the faves isn't a like button. It's a tool of sincerity and praise, and a way to get back to a work that you just really need to see again! If I ever get around to getting a premium membership, I'm totally featuring this on my page some way, just to show people that I feel the same way.

Thank you so much for making this!!!

Well..I'd like to fav this..because I do have a bunch of the same people faving every single new piece of art I upload.

I mean..I get pretty irritated...but that doesn't mean I hate those people..

By the way, I'd have to agree with your compromise.
