IN FACT, TURN FANART INTO ANGSTY ANTHRO. OR INFLATE YOUR FAVORITE CHARACTER LOLZ. OR MAKE THEM BISHIE KAWAII.
Oh yeah. My ass is FLAMED for this.
EDIT: The naga bit is referring to one particular artist here on DA who is talented, but has a rather... uh, interesting style. And she's obsessed to the point of Uber!Creepy about her crazy pretty boything naga people. I won't mention any names, because I don't mean to offend her or her fans, it's just... well, with the 3+million pageviews, obviously pretty snake-type things make you popular.

I'm guilty for my fascination for some of this, especially fanart. Β Sometimes I even fave stuff impulsively.
Fan art annoys me the most because some characters are only drawn for their appearance (Ellen Parr (Elastigirl) from the Incredibles) or seen as a shipping vehicle (Karkat Vantas from Homestuck). Β Another problem with fanart is the popularity of the character - You can make an awesome fanart for FTL Faster than Light that took twelve hours to make by hand - and get a couple hundred likes over a month-long period - but suddenly a fifteen-minute doodle of Smash Bros or Avatar the Last Airbender appears and gets eight thousand likes in a week Β . Β Plus, fanart of less popular titles gets buried under the more popular titles. Β Then we have the out-of-character moments, the over-powered original characters, the slash, the smut, the reference spam, etc.

I might have already commented on this.... and yeah fanart was what got me noticed here. But now that I do my OWN art, I get almost no pageviews these days. Tis sad. And I'm happy to say I've never drawn anything on this list. Except maybe for naga-thing, but mu naga peeps aren't naga, they're non-humanoid aliens.

In very-much-joking-and-sarcastic retaliation to this, I think I'll stick true to my values of BASIC SURVIVAL RATING and take my chances by creating things of merit, rather than risk people murdering me over something plastic, underage, and lacking in quality of character.

7. Draw a pony. Or ponify something that has nothing to do with MLP. Or reverse that. Make a pony human. The bigger the breasts the better.
8. Draw a youtube famous let's player. It doesn't matter if it looks like them. Just draw a blonde anime guy and say it's Pewdiepie. Or if you can't draw, just upload a screencap of him.
