Description
Name: Labcoat Herzsprung
Gender: Male
Age: 56
Race: Human
Affiliation: Neutral
Rank: Citizen
Weapon: Besides having two robot hands that can break bones, he carries dangerous volatile chemicals and scalpels
Personality:
Labcoat is a very eccentric person, to put it nicely. To say the truth would be that he’s absolutely five different colors of insane. He doesn’t really know how to contain himself, or the meaning of self control. He lacks social skills and has very bad timing. He’s a very callous person when it comes to his research and experiments, breaking down even emotions and human nature to “nothing more than a flesh puppet with some chemical compositions pumping in its veins”. As such, he has little to no morals. Thievery, murder, acts against god, as long as he gets what he wants he finds it all worth it (there are limits). He takes such great joy and ecstasy from his work that it borders on consuming his whole life. Lab Coat even froths at the mouth if he’s excited enough. He’s willing to sacrifice nearly everything for the progression of scientific progress. Even though he’s a rather unorthodox ex-doctor, he’s extremely intelligent in his field, with groundbreaking work that no one asked for. Biology, chemistry, modern medicine, anatomy, neurosciences- anything that has to do with the human body and even life itself is his strongest skill. It’s almost to a scary degree, as his quest to learn all of life’s secrets lead him down terrifying roads. An unhinged genius left to his own devices. As such, Lab Coat’s ultimate goal is to obtain the achievement of being like God and have control and power over creation. What will he do with that power? Most likely make magical girls or cat girls real.
Despite his many outlandish personality traits, he still has some sort of heart. Somewhere in there. Although this is more evident when he watches TV shows than with actual people. He likes to annoy others, mostly because he knows he can usually get away with it. He has a major sweet tooth and loves sugar, and can usually be bribed with sweets. Despite his lack of any social skills, he doesn’t suffer from any anxiety at all- in fact,h e believes that he fits perfectly in. He remains friendly to his other gang members and even organizes a poker night on Tuesdays. Even though he is very smart, that doesn’t mean he’s so well versed outside his area of expertise.
The other problematic issue with Lab Coat is that he is a weeb. He has an odd obsession with anime and Manga that spills into his work frequently. Combining with his already apparent insanity and loose grip on reality, it’s a very dangerous situation. Evident from the amount of genetic testing he has done to make cat girls real. He loves this type of media so much, that he has ascended from casual levels to intensive study. Learning fluent Japanese, and even joining the yakuza, Lab Coat is dedicated. Even so, he still has some sort of standards, keeping all his own mature rated media in his home (although if you visit his home that’s a different story), showering regularly, and treating everyone with basic human respect even if he differs in opinion. He likes anime, he’s a degenerate but he has self-respect.
Bio:
Lab Coat was born and raised in Germany alongside with his twin brother Over Coat. The two boys had a hardworking father and mother who owned a butcher shop. They loved the Coat twins more than anything. Their mother was an heiress to a large fortune from her family’s gun company, so the family was never hurting for money. Lab Coat and Overcoat were showered with love and lived in modest luxury. Sent to private school, living in a safe church neighbourhood, the twins were living an ideal life. Lab Coat loved helping his father in the shop, he learned how to carve meat before he learned multiplication tables. He was kept far away from the dangerous machinery but he was skilled with a knife even as a child. He wasn’t the most normal kid due to large interest in butchering animal carcasses, even going to farms and saying how much viable meat was on an animal just by touch. But still, his family loved him and his father was immensely supportive and proud. Even going as far to say that his shop would be his son’s. But fate played a cruel trick on them, because everything that they had was burned in front of them. Literally.
In the quiet of the night while they slept soundly in their beds, a fire started. It was too late by the time they woke up, fire licking at their flesh and ash in their lungs. Lab Coat thought he woke up in the fiery pits of hell. The embers blazing and the black smoke burning his eyes, he was trapped in the collapsing house with his brother. Nearly dying of smoke inhalation, his consciousness burned up along with his body. Covered in burns and disfigured, every single movement he made was torturous. He had to wear bandages everywhere to prevent infections before he was given a skin graft. Yet this was nothing compared to when Lab Coat was told that his parents had perished in the fire. Orphaned at a young age and recovering from extensive burns, Lab Coat was emotionally shattered. He never truly coped with his parent’s death and keeps their memory dearly. Their parents left the twins a hefty inheritance, but they were too young to claim it. The rest of their family were either unavailable or unable to take custody. Threatened of going into foster care and being separated, an upstanding family in the community asked to take custody of them.
The Dirk family took them in graciously, but not out of kindness. Explaining that it was their duty as a community to take the chance that God has given them to have the privilege to take care of the helpless children. While they were never cruel, behind closed doors they ignored both boys consistently and misused the checks from the government and their mother’s inheritance for their own selfishness. Draining their future for expensive trips, brand-name clothing, cars, etc. even though they made a decent living themselves. Lab Coat knew he was never welcomed in the family, neither his care takers nor their child ever showed genuine kindness to him or his brother. It was clear that they were using them to build their own reputation in the town. They pretended that they were successful entrepreneurs to cover up the fact the new sudden money. Lab Coat ignored them and as much as they ignored him. He didn’t want any trouble because he didn’t want to be separated from the only family he had. Also the amount of doctor appointments and medications he had kept him from really rebelling any further. He studied hard in school, to the point it almost seemed like an obsession but even so he didn’t earn high grades. He wanted to make his deceased parents proud and help others suffering like he had. Without much social contact besides his twin, Lab Coat developed little to no social skills and became very odd. He didn’t know how to express himself appropriately or what could be considered private or public information. Even so, Over Coat helped to try and control his bad impulses. At this point, Lab Coat wasn’t insane, a bit disturbed but certainly not insane. He had strong morals and loved his family, both living and dead. But his drive to become a doctor wasn’t so humble and heroic, he didn’t know how to describe it at the time but he had a growing interest in human anatomy and biology. The secrets of life and the possibilities that might make. Being able to harness the power of creation itself. But this was only sprouting now. Lab Coat didn’t care about the Dirk’s greed and wanted to leave as soon as he could, even accepting that he’d have to take out loans to go into medical school. He wanted nothing to do with them after everything they put him and his brother through, and would rather they never contact him again. But his brother had actually gotten revenge against them, and obliterated their reputation and financial situation.
Lab Coat’s mental state was already very fragile from years of neglect and the death of his parents, so the pressure and stress of medical school pushed him off the edge. He was desperate, raving, and had constant night terrors. He lost control of his life and was nearly kicked out of the school for an incident in one of the labs. He couldn’t keep up with the constant work piling on top of each other, and he had no outlet to help him. He pushed away his own brother, never letting him help. Wanting an escape, he took a short break and went on holiday in another part of the country, where by coincidence he met a demon willing to make a deal after reading his future. Tailcoats was a twisted and considerably evil practitioner of the dark arts and alchemy (reading fortunes as a side gig), and offered Lab Coat the secrets of life and the human body in exchange for his soul as well as financial imbursement in the future. Agreeing, Lab Coat was given decades of knowledge accrued by Tailcoats of not only medicine, but chemistry, anatomy and biology.
He was considered a genius, and graduated early. A gifted doctor, he worked day and night in the emergency ward, but Tailcoat’s deal wasn’t done. Not only did he get the intelligence he always wanted, but he left with the hunger for more. After all, being considered a genius really meant nothing if he couldn’t answer the most taboo questions. Science was always man’s way to correct God’s mistakes, or rather harness God’s power for their own. To put them in control of their fate and future. But Lab Coat wasn’t interested in fame or being a savior, he simply wanted to know what would happen. That is legitimately the only reason he does the things that he does. Lab Coat descended into madness as his deal with a demon corrupted his mind, and broke the Hippocratic oath after practically experimenting on a patient. Claiming that despite his methods not being orthodox, he had not only improved the current surgery procedure but saved the patient. Everyone else saw it very differently, and after the ensuing scandal, Lab Coat lost his license and all credentials. He was stuck in a sticky situation considering that he had to pay TailCoats monthly. After being laughed out of trying to sell an explosive chemical composition to a company, he caught the attention of more nefarious characters. They were willing to pay him any price he asked, and he discovered that he neglected a vast market for his research into the more inhumane practices of science.
Lab Coat’s mind completely collapsed during his long years of crime, besides the constant nightmares, he had no reference of morality anymore. Surprisingly, his brother was also long gone and the two reconciled after their long separation and worked a few collaborations together-notably Lab Coat’s extra set of arms. It was at some point in his mid twenties, he discovered anime and manga and fell into a deep obsession. Being something to entertain him during his “work”, and he almost married a Nintendo DS playing a dating simulator. Until the state of New York told him he couldn’t legally do it. No one knows how it took over his whole life, but it encouraged him to learn Japanese and eventually visit Japan frequently before settling. Despite his long stay in the country as well as his understanding of the country, he’s still cringe worthy. He didn’t stop his work either, simply taking business trips to China or wherever if he needed to if working from home wasn’t an option. Eventually, Lab Coat was nearly killed before his now boss managed to save him inadvertently. Offering his medical services, Lab Coat is now a member of his gang as a doctor. But he still works on his own secretive “projects” that he finds with the leftover money he has at the end of expenses. He recently moved to Oten for his work, but seems to plan staying for longer, judging by the fact he's renting an inconspicuous apartment in the bad part of town. He's working at Abbadon only part-time, mostly because of his other work.
