Description
I decided to cheer myself up a bit by finishing one of my numerous images that I start and never finish. This was the easiest to complete so here it is.
Once again, I have managed to dig deep and come up with a great title!
Nothing special about the image - it's a Lizard man and that's it. I decided to have a moody shot of him coming out of the shadows simply so I wouldn't need to paint the rest of him.
I've implied the armour wearing - hopefully enough
enjoy.
Photoshop CS2 and my wacom graphire 2
In total perhaps 4 hours - but spread over a long time.
EDIT - just darkened the shadow areas for all you guy's with LCD monitors.

Someone gonna help me out and tell me what it's out of? Maybe it's not a copy of anything, but I know I've seen either a film of game with something pretty much exactly the same... Anyone? Brill detail btw

its so beautiful, love the smooth and rough patches on the metal armour and his scales, my one comment is the eye looks a little flat, maybe coulda used a lil more shading on the underside of the curve of the eyeball, although alligators do have very flat looking eyes, so maybe that was the look you were aimin for. either way cool work.

Starcraft Ghost never made it to it's release - but that was for a whole new console market for Blizzard. Let's hope they'll make it this time to their tried and tested PC market!

Yup - Beta stage has started.
...although I thought Starcraft Ghost got that far. They'd been working on it for years before that was canned.
But as I said, I'm sure they'll follow through with SC2 as it's a PC game and not a totally new and alien to them console market.
I've been keeping up to date on their gameplay videos - it's looking so amazing!!

I'm glad you think so - simply overlaying textures on top of the painting in certain parts makes it feel more real. In the case of the armour, I added quite a bit of painting on top of the textures again to try and sell the lighting and damage. A lot quicker than I thought it'd take!
I've already edited my dragon wip with the addition of millions of textures and I've distorted them (as I did here) with many filters (the spherize filter was a main one) to give it form.

Years ago I had a lizard man character but in reality, he was a very powerful half dragon!
The question you need to be asking yourself if you come up against this guy is - "do you feel lucky?" because you really can't tell the difference! (particularly if it's just a lone 'lizard man') 
Flee to the hills!
At one point, I had a Minotaur character - perhaps we'll see some Minotaur paintings in a few more years.
