Description
So a while back, as in almost an entire year ago, I had uploaded a drawing of my FO3 character Alexia Aldrin fav.me/d2q6nkc . When I started playing FO3 again recently it felt right that I should revisit the design to try and improve on it. Especially in the face....I've elaborated on the duster a good bit more, with the intention of making it something of a trademark for her. It's essentially a Regulator Duster that's been patched repeatedly, lengthened and one of it's sleeves chopped off. It is kept in place via a shoulder harness that is attached to the two packs on the back of the coat. the entire rig however is designed with a quick release mechanism in the event that it needs to be discarded. While the packs on the back goes a way into explaining her inventory space provisions are made for attaching her hunting rifle's scabbard and the sling of her assault rifle.
While the majority of the patches are simply the result of repairing the coat a number are 'tour' patches indicating her affiliations. These include a GNR logo patch on her right shoulder, a Rivet City patch on the lower right, a Megaton patch near the left hip, a A6 logo patch just below it, and the 101 from her Vault Jumpsuit stitched into the back of the mantel. Where as the 101 goes a way into explaining how Three Dog's sources can reliably identify her, the A6 refers to her being my 6th PC with a name beginning in 'A'. The coat's Left shoulder and what little remains of that sleeve are reinforced with metal plates, the pauldron being from a male leather armor while the other plate comes from a Raider Iconoclast suit. The pauldron is marked with the Brotherhood of Steel's emblem.
Outside of the duster, Alexia's outfit consists of a fairly standard tank top, leather pants, a fingerless glove, a sleeve and two bandoleers. The tank top is modified such that it's actually part of the harness system for the coat and the only part on it taken directly from FO3's inventory is the belt across the ribs hails from the Iconoclast gear. The pants on the other hand are derived from the female leather armor.
The left sleeve, similar in nature to those found on the female Merc Veteran or Cruiser outfits, is fitted with more plating coming in the form of a elbow pad and a bicep guard. the later of which is marked with the insignia of her BOS rank of knight.
The bandoleers are based of of the belt from the Armored Vault Suit and the male Merc Adventurer outfit. though both have obviously been modified, the former holds loose .308 rounds for the hunting rifle. The latter has had several pouches replaced for mag pouches to hold the assault rifles ammo and a pair of larger bags. Strapped to the left leg is a further two mag pouches and third soft case. Assuming that ammo is only stored in their respective places there is enough storage for 14 magazines of 5.56 ammo, and 25 .308 rounds based on ammo weight from New Vegas that would be 13.85lbs alone.
Alexia's lower legs and feet are protected by way of basic combat boots with leather leggings and metal plates covering the toe, front of the shin, and knee. The metal toe cover is held in place by a strap that goes through the sole.
Her primary weapon is a heavily modified Chinese assault rifle. It features a fore grip made from rebar, padding strapped to the wire stock, a dot sight (that's green instead of the traditional red), and a bayonet fashioned from a combat knife. When not in use the Bayonet is stored on the side of her right boot in it's own sheath.
Her second weapon is a Hunting Rifle, while the .32 round in FO3 isn't nearly as potent as it's .308 chambered New Vegas version I found the unique one, Ol'Painless, plenty effective for medium range sniping. the only thing that keeps me from using the gun at long range is the lack of a scope. Alexia's hunting rifle here however is based on the New Vegas version complete with the .308 cambering and scope mod. Like the hunting rifle I drew for her a year ago it has a padded cheek rest and a 5 round bandoleer attached to the stock. the other obvious modification the the presence of a junkwork bi pod composed of rebar for the legs which can be extended/retracted by use of the knobs taken from a scope.
--------------
Edit:
So updated the image to include the coatless rear view and sketch work of the shoulder harness with particular focus placed on the quick release mechanism. updated the front view of the coatless image to include the new harness. Still need to update the coat front view with the new harness and add a bust shot. considering reworking the assault rifle to include more wooden furniture and a sling.
And another Edit:
I've pretty much done everything that I've sated in the previous update. now I'm looking at cleaning up the line art with my tablet to make it ready for coloring and make it more consistent.

possibly in the future. I don't have much line art that's at this level of completion so it may get colored for practice purposes.

Nice improvement, I like the elaborations on the outfit a lot more than the old one. The body structure is also your style isn't too awkward like in your older one as well. I hope to see more

the previous one had issues mainly because I was drawing at a scale I wasn't use to and had no glimmer of a reference for the pose.

She looks awesome! I like her attire, looks practical and badass but at the same time sexy. Nice mods on the Chinese Type 68 assault rifle, jury rigging FTW. Me likes, added to faves!
Do you plan on inking this eventually or perhaps enhancing with computer? Just curious because it is kind of hard to make out (unless fully zoomed).

This is a WIP, so yeah more to come. mostly I want to draw the quick release of the jacket and where the affiliation patches are. for example the BOS emblem would be on her left shoulder armor (matching where it is on PAs)
As Far as jury rigging is concerned I think the repair and modification of weapons in the wasteland would take on this flavor by virtue of necessity especially in the case of the Chinese assault rifle which by any stretch of the imagination should be rare and replacement parts even more so. I'd imagine the wasteland to be filled with "home brewed" versions of goods, tin can silencers (with sponges in them), bramhim derived cleaning oils, ect ect.

Yup, that's why I said jury rigging for the win.
Almost everything, unless completely untouched, will eventually acquire many modifications just for the machine to continue running after all spare parts run out (if there even were any to be had). Technology will continue to work, assuming someone is bright enough to improvise methods to ensure it's continuity.
By the way, where is the BoS emblem? I see what looks like an NCR insignia (I think) on her overcoat right shoulder, but don't see the Brotherhood emblem. Or is it the emblem with a lightning bolt inside a shield on her left arm/bicep?

The patch on her right shoulder is actually the GNR logo. on her left shoulder armor -the part taken from the male leather armor will be the BoS emblem. Her rank (knight) is the shield emblem on the plate over her bicep, which btw, is suppose to be a sword, tip down, imposed over a shield. you can see more of the BoS Rank markings I came up with on my WIP image of Cross. [link] though admittedly they are very light.
I'm also slapping the 101 from an old vault suit on the back mantel of her coat and hopefully will find room to sneak in others like a silhouette of megaton's A-bomb, the Vault-Tec logo, an A6 emblem (referencing the fact that she's my 6th player character with an 'A' name) and likely others.

Ya, my bad, I meant to say cross not lightning (dunno why I said lightning). Eitherway, thanx for explaining.
The rest of the details you said you're added sound great, I can't wait to see it when it's finished!

I've added most of them in with the last update, check out the rear view of the coat for placement and what not.
