...@_@ I put FAR more time into this than I think I shoulda...and all with the tablet, too. I think my hand suffered mild carpal tunnel a few times after I got off the computer when I did this and stuff...anyways, let's cut to the chase!

Yes. This is Randy, AKA the Dragon Being. Which is why he has funky huge feet and hands. My mom called him Satanic because of dark colors and horns and claws. Does that make black friendly cats/goats Satanic? I think not. *rolls eyes* -_- Anyways, this was for 's contest. The challenge was to make a new form of her shapeshifting human-dragon, Randy, that wasn't an element (I've seen so many elements now I can't even remember which were done and stuff), or any other freaky forms (like sea mammal or 'the rage, the calm', or even Jeweled Phoenix- my personal fave.) already done. So then I was stuck for a little as to what to do.

And then it hit me- the 5 Chinese elements (fire, water, nature, air, metal) and Buddha. Don't ask how that worked. I just didn't want to do something overly Japanese...I feel like I do that enough. Cultural diversity! Now I just need a character that's Hispanic and speaks Spanish and I'll be ALL set. *stone'd*

All bad racial joking aside...

So, I figured I'd use the five elements in the wing design. I really, really, REALLY like how the feathers/water came out on this. The vines are a little 'eh', and as a last minute thought I used the hue/sat tool to switch it to a more earthy green than the really placid green I used; it just didn't look that great. :/

Next up, the actual body coloring...hell if I know why I went with royal blue. Ha, royal. The hair/wings (violet) was supposed to signify royalty, like what Buddha had before he went on his life journey (he 'reincarnated' into a prince supposedly because he had good karma, though I could be wrong on that point...). Maybe blue was for heightened spirituality? Gold is for riches/good godliness, and silver is for...something. I forget, but it was something along the lines of gold. Personal gripe: the gold hair holder came out like shit, but I couldn't make it any better. I really need to sit on down with good ol' shiny things and have at them, you know? ...I like how the body was handled overall, though the light source is a bit confused.

Now for some serious symbolism, so put on your spats and hold on, kids. The chameleon butterfly was put there for a reason. Haha, yes. It's a color-shape-shiftin'-fantastical bug that probably would be incredibly rare, if not extinct, in Randy's time. STILL, I PUT IT IN THERE. The butterfly was meant to parallel Randy- it changes to best suit and adapt to the environment to survive, and it metamorphosizes from a little worm into something beautiful. Another planned part of the butterfly was that it's considered to be a weak creature overall- if it rips its wing, or gets caught in a pool, it's dead. I imagine Randy would be incredibly lethal in that form, being able to control five different elements without shape-shifting, being able to really control muscle movements to a tee, and probably being able to rip everything in his path to shreds because he's awesome like that, but no...he merely sits and cherishes the butterfly, feeling kinship with it...leaving it to live another day. I think that's why I call this the ' peace form' of Randy. Either that, or his 'really-smart-powerful-form-but-he-forgets-everything-after-he-shapeshifts-outta-it' form, but I thought the former sounded better.

Anyways, lots of little things I woulda loved to add in here, like the second wing, the hand, and metal feathers coming off the first etc., but I simply ran outta time.

Oh, and it's 1024x768 size for most resolutions. Go nuts if you want. <3
