Description
Name: Christopher Devereaux
Nickname: Breaker
Age: 20 (July 31st; Leo)
Race: Human
Height: 6' 2"
Hometown: La Rando
Inventory Journal/Social Links
Fuller Ref (coming soon)
Division: Crescendo (Officer)
Class: Mechanic/Warrior
Weapon: ??84' Classic Devocrox Electric Guitar; Sibelius (heavysword). Occasionally will use a large monkey wrench or a small dagger if disarmed.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Breaker does not like his position as Officer, and thusly not only does he hide his officer badge in his right vest pocket, he tends to keep quiet about it and ask the higher ups to do the same. |D
Skills:
• Lion's Roar (Magical): Breaker sings, holds a note with or without his guitar, or gives a loud blast of a shout to create elemental barriers or try and dibilitate an opponent. A Capella can cause slight wind damage or charm. His voice naturally carries and is charmingly gruff, but occasionally cracks if he doesn't concentrate. It can also be used to mimic other men's voices, but it drains him faster. The longer he charges the spell, the higher the decibel. His maximum decibel range is to a whopping 145 decibels , enough to cause serious hearing damage, but it also completely drains Breaker magically for the day and leaves him mute for minimum of a week.
• Slidin' Riff (Magical): Breaker covers a song. Creates sound pulses that can block minor Fire/Lightning/Light/Dark magical damage depending on the tempo of the song and the key of the song. (Dark is hard metal, light is his tenor or sadder songs, lightning are his fastest songs, and fire are songs that do not fit into the other categories.) When used in conjunction with Lion's Roar, the barrier is stronger and may be dual-elemental protected, but it is harder for Breaker to concentrate.
• Steady Notes (Physical): The more damage that the sword Sibelius takes within its sheathe and the longer it remains in there, the stronger and the sharper the blade becomes when revealed.
• Noble's Attack (Physical): Breaker's fistfighting abilities. He can lace in an element (most of the time, it's light), but it will make his attacking area blister. So mostly it's strict hand-to-hand non-elemental combat.
• Fissure (Physical): Chris lets loose the Quartz Spirit living in his father's sword, Sibelius, and looses all absorbed magical energy into the ground to open it up with a lightning strike. Powerful, but may only be used once per battle and leaves Breaker completely drained for magic.
• Fall to Pieces (Magical): A special song Breaker knows how to play by default. He casts it by singing and placing his emotion into the song, which he feels represents him best. It's a becalming song, but when he becomes emotionally unstable a bit of the notion of missing one's family comes to mind. He can try and make a person feel his angst that way, but if the target is deaf the spell will be casted on everyone nearby instead.
PET REQUIREMENTS:
• He needs to at least perform in TWO tasks/missions etc.
• He needs to go on a special RP mission with Cathal to capture the harbringer
• He needs his true weapon.
• He needs to write at least one song.
Magic:
• Fire Lv.2
• Lightning Lv.3
• Wind Lv.1
• Light Lv.3
• Dark Lv.1
Likes: Visiting pubs, getting drunk (hahahaha), courting ladies wherever he goes (bow chicka wow wow), drawing, singing and playing alone, the color red, the color blue, Sonata, strawberry cheesecake, animals, Quaver
Dislikes: Large crowds, people that judge/pick on the weak, hangovers, when animals don't like him, remembering his rocky past, swimming, dragons, wintertime, iceskating, the color yellow, bright lights, royal pricks, CARBON.
Personality: Breaker, when he first joined Crescendo, became lulled into a state of ease as he travelled and trained. He met many new friends and foes, allowing himself to get close to them. Underneath his rough, skirtchasing exterior, he was a surprisingly noble and righteous man that found himself helping others a lot. He even allowed himself to fall in love, despite all of his efforts not to. Get on his good side, and he would even give up his life to protect you in battle.
That was in the past.
After getting in a particularly nasty fight with another Crescendo recruit that nearly left him dead (if not for the quick help of some of his friends), Breaker loathed that he had become so 'soft' and left everyone behind to better himself in battle. After coming back, he has assumed an extremely cold personality; although he acknowledges his friends, he distances himself from them and makes more of an effort to live in solitary. Where once he rarely smiled, the few things that gave him joy no longer do, and now he concentrates more on his duty to Crescendo, getting stronger, and finding his missing sister more than his feelings.
In addition to his icy facade, he shows general unease when caught offguard, a hint to his stuttery younger self, and panic when faced with foes of his past. Now more than ever there are less things to make his secret self come out of hiding.
History: Christopher was born and raised in La Rando by Gregor and Lurina Devereaux, two extremely-well off nobles who also worked in the Symphoria Army. Since his parents were often away, he would rely on his elder sister, Emily, to take care of him (especially when he was picked on or beat up mercilessly by the meaner kids of La Rando) leading to a close bond between the two.
Nearly three years ago there was a grand battle near La Rando, caused by a Volcanic Dragon taking out any towns in its wake. His parents went after the dragon to help slay it, and never returned. The rest of the events from then to now are a bit foggy and are still under detailing.
FAST FORWARD TO PRESENT DAY- Breaker signed up for the recruitments and headed out towards Humoresque for his first task as a member of the Crescendo army. Why he signed up is still a bit of a mystery.
Other Info: Although he specializes in his electrical guitar, Chris also plays some classical piano, as well as acoustic guitar. He's also very debateably could be seen as a lush. ;D He's very good at learning things by watching other people if he tries. (Which he doesn't, most of the time...) When it comes to music, he learns things by ear or by watching others; he is quite illiterate when it comes to reading music. Also, few know about it, but he keeps the remains of long hair from his noble braid pinned up and out of sight. He loves strawberries, and his favorite food is strawberry cheesecake.
Theme/Inspirational Song(s): Slither by Velvet Revolver/Fall to Pieces by Velvet Revolver

I fully assure you, Breaker does not discriminate based on race, smarts or height. So long as you can be his 'friend' he is juuuuust fine with her |33333
Btw, if you're into story RPing:

You're amazing.. You know a guitar is one of those things that I've NEVER been able to draw all good like that.
How do you keep the lines all straight and stuff? ;O

Actually having a guitar and knowing how to play one REALLY kinda helps for this sort of thing. (This one is loosely based off my cobalt Stratocaster ohmygodilovethisthing) Soooo I've had a little practice drawing sixstrings before.
Line tool, my bro. Line tool. ;0 It is an amazing thing. Then you just merge down like a mother-frickin' mofo. Normally I don't do digital linearts though in which case I (ab)use a very lengthy ruler. ;D

Muuurrr, I've lived with instruments all my life and it still doesn't do a thing for me. xD
Line tool?! LINE TOOL...?! GAAAH. The line tool doesn't suit my style because my lines are never that solid and stuff. If I used it, it would look really out of place. D: My own style is constantly trying to fuck me. xD

Jelleh practice moar at drawing what you see and not what you know. Trust me it WILL help if you can sit down and do real-life images and whatnot. I really had to sit down and reference the hell outta my guitar and memorize the different frets and strings and features before I got anywhere and EVEN STILL I screwed up big time by not putting the pick guard, lololol orz
Dude, you DO know that line tool has thickness options and stuff? This was all thickness 2 lines and they are much more 'solid' and not feathery in comparison to paintbrush tool (I can't use that thing to properly ink for the life of me I swear to GOD orz)

Hahaha, you sound like an art teacher. And that's why I failed all of my art classes. xD Still life is the most epic bore. I think I'll just stick to admiring the work of others and using them as references. My ten-thousand dollar mandolin can't even get me to draw. What a useless piece of expensive garbage.
I know how the line tool works... But what I was trying to say is that nothing in my lineart (thick or thin) is consistent enough to look natural with the line tool. I use nothing BUT the paintbrush, and the line and pen tools just can't imitate pen pressure.
I've always wanted to get around to practicing REAL inking with nice lines, but I don't enjoy it like I do scribbling. As much as I want to improve, it's more important that I have fun drawing what I draw.
I guess that's why I like to draw Pokemon so much. There's no right or wrong way. ^^

Well, it's the point of drawing what you SEE and not what you know. Referencing online pictures and then putting them into your own style is perfectly fine. You don't have to necessarily do still lives, though they DO help. (They are so fucking boring I totally feel you.) It's kinda a thing you have to force yourself to do I think. :/
Mmmm, yeah, that is a problem, huh. Well, there is ALWAYS the Polygonal Lasso tool. You can click shapes and the like with straight lines and make yourself some makeshift pressure that way. ;0
I actually started picking up inking from drawing classes in highschool. Scribbling is fun and all, but I find I have so much more control with traditional media and I really really prefer to do linearts on paper. Traditional inking REALLY takes a lot of practice though, and it's VERY easy to make mistakes. But I mean if you're gonna scan it, ahhhh the power of Photoshop. If you enjoy scribbling and want to learn more about traditional inking, I suggest that you get yourself an Indian ink bottle and a crow quill pen and just experiment scribbling with that as your only drawing tool. It'll be messy at first definitely and India ink does not come out for the life of anything, but the set will be able to give you really great line quality once you get the hang of how much ink to put on your nib.
Pogeymanz are so refreshing to draw for that reason, I agree. :V

Yes, sadly, the best way is not always the funnest way. xD Some people enjoy doing still life, but its a waste of time when I can be doodling the beasts in my imagination. I wish I had less of it (imaginaaaaaation *rainbow*) sometimes.
I really dig on and respect good traditional artists. And though it was mostly when I was young and couldn't draw, I think I'm still better with a pencil than a tablet. But ink is permanent, so it's a much more challenging feat.
Not out of reach, though. I can't wait to move out so I have room for a little art studio. I don't kid when I say I have zero deskspace. I draw every thing cramped on my lap squished between a bed and a desk, so traditional art will have to lay low until I can move out.
I want a real-life Jigglypuff. D:
