EVEN FULL VIEW DOES THIS PIECE NO JUSTICE. D:

Finally, I got something half-productive done for the con. >>; Ah haha! Leave it to me to procrastinate/get sick/work/play video games a lot and be very tired, right?

Kira Kiwori and Cyranea Hik'rata, from my hiatused yet recently brought-back-to-life story, Chronicles of Cyranea. In a lot of ways COC overshadows Fire of the Phoenix as a prequel; it's unintentionally become more of the original, and FotP has become the sequel. It's somewhat upsetting, but I love all the characters in this story so much and all of their storylines so much, I can't ignore it. (It's also upsetting that I generally don't know half as much as what goes on in FotP as I do in COC. It's like, you know the beginning and the end, and the shit in the middle is a mystery and filler.)

I think this is the first time I've actually done a CGed version of these two. The last time I drew em, I was still in highschool. It was in color pencil, and so I remember not being able to do this again for a while. Ah, nostalgia!

I had a bit of fun and frustration playing around with a few more new things in Photoshop: namely the colored lineart (!), masks and making my own patterns (!!). I really like the effect of Cyranea's kimono and how it turned out. Too bad this view of it, even in full view, kills it. There's such wonderful texture... As for frustration, the roof...did not turn out as nicely as I would have hoped. At all. D: Some of the tiles come forward too much, others not enough...

I've...never really finalized the design I wanted for Kira. In specific, her exact hair color when she was younger, when she's older, and her eye color. I decided that, due to the magic of Beght, her hair gets lighter as she gets older, turning from this nice navy blue to more...cyanish. (I had it the other way around for a while. It was more like Cyranea's color when she was back in Okinawa.

...I decided on the day sky, because it was the easiest to shade, it'll look fuggin' AMAZING as a bright blue when I take it to the print, and me and both agree that blue skies are amazingly pretty.

It was kinda hard for me to make Cyranea as transparent as she made out. The coloring job on her was quite satisfactory in my eye D:

And yes, that is a cloud in the background there. If you're wondering why there's a cloud where there 'should' be land...let's just say that the cloud is the land for Nij'shiotora where this picture is. Speaking of backgrounds, I think this one came out decently enough, besides other personal gripes about it.

...I think I'll be changing some more things on my prints list. I just do not feel in the mood to do 8 realistic animals. I think I'll do Lugia and Ho-Oh instead, given all the hype about HGSS.

Cyranea and Kira both belong to me.

VIOLET IS LOVE <3 I fear I'll always abuse it if I start using it in my pieces, so I push that self-control button with it. (Same with rainbows and pink. soooo much abuse there.)

Oh yes. The colors came out blindingly strong in the prints. XD A bit too much, almost...

Thanksee for your comment!
