cool, very cool, nice and simple, yet complex with all the tiny details of the leaf. and a good example of when centered composition works very effectively, good job

excellent. you pushed the contrast right to the perfect point without going over it. the framing is elegant too and adds to the piece.

I dunno, I kinda like December. It's November I hate... It has all the bad sides of Fall, and all the bad sides of Winter.
A very interesting picture. Dead Leaves make for very powerful B/W shots. And the simple contrast between the brilliant white snow and the leaf is very neat.

Magnificent piece....great contrast....gives it a very abstract quality. If there was such a thing as " flawed perfection", this would be it.
(by the way, I hate snow. )

I've seen a spree of shots lately that try to capture the feeling of winter, but I think this one takes the cake . . and then eats it, and then has the audacity to ask for another one
Clean, simple and very minimalistic - it's gorgeous. The blue-grey tone of the leaf is winter itself cast against the snowy backdrop.
Well done, I truely am impressed!

This is one of those picture where people will only glance at it and see its surface beauty. But it needs to be known how amazing this picture is. There is something about winter done in B&W that really brings out a strong sense of hidden messages. Color brings life to subjects, black is the absance of color which portrays mystery, sophistication, mourning. Hence the hidden messages of this picture. The dead leaf the shadows in the snow. I see B&W to be the reality check of a subject, you can either capture it in color, or in B&W. In B&W you're more aware of the texture, and singular emotions as opposed to an overwhelment of emotions you assoociate with certain colors. The centered fallen leaf, frozen and crisp on the cold, wet, icy snow is a simple picture with a deep and complex definition to what December really is. Bravo on such a magnificant piece and a well deserved fav.

omg!
This is absolutely beautiful.
I share your disdain for winter, but if I ever saw something like this with my own two eyes, my feelings towards the season would turn right around.
But this photo is doing the trick quite nicely.
