Description
Just a very simple little tutorial because what I thought was something that everyone knew, turns out that it's not! And this is not just for SAI users, it goes for all digital art programs too!PS- if you'd like me to make other tutorials, just let me know!

Like the line art you did here [link]

In this case Multiply doesn't change the colour of the lines, but honestly I really get confused when I use layer modes anytime else

No it does not, as this was just a way to show how to get around the whole "lineart merged with the background" problem, though I suppose that could be another thing I could cover in a different tutorial!

You have to add the new white background layer manually, that's why.

this is good!!
but really, it would be great if one could learn the cause or reason or just the "why" behind it instead just learning the technique

I don't think Paint.NET has a multiply thing, but I'll see. Anyways, thanks. c:

If you're using a program like MSPaint or another similar basic art program, it unfortunately doesn't apply because there is no "layers" feature. You'll have to use an entirely different method. :c

Paint.NET has layers, I've just never seen a Multiply button. I know GIMP has one.

I didn't understand that saving as a PNG flattens layers until I was like 16. UNTIL I WAS SIX. TEEN.

HAHA I KNOW RIGHT. It's such a basic little tutorial that this is more like a beginner's tip, and I was certain everyone knew about it, but even if it helps just one person, that makes it worth it!
