As requested!I probably wouldn't have done this... but people seem to have a lot of questions! I don't really feel qualified to make a tutorial XD;
But yeah, I hope this answers everything!
Not strict or anything, I've seen them in color and with tons of different styles too.

Does it matter what kind of paper you use? Can I use just regular computer paper, or should I use something thicker?

I now you were asking the Creator,but i think you should use papper from a sketch book that if u hold the paper it barely bends,im starting in paper children and i found that from tutorial but you may use computer paper for sketching the rough draft ^-^

The only sketchbook paper I have is in a book that is hardback and not meant to be pulled out :I But what I do is glue construction paper and computer paper together (drawing on the computer paper) and just do it that way, so it's thicker, although it still is a lil flimsy though not much ^^, I've done like.. 6-7 paper children so far since this post
