Short Bio

The first thing anyone noticed about Berry Blast was his being a unicorn. Cheese carried the gene from his unicorn grandmother, and it appeared in the kid, simple as that. Unfortunately, there were some gossips that assumed that Pinkie was not faithful, much to the couple’s frustration.

Berry’s magic spurts had a knack for causing disasters, and he especially loved explosions. It ruined Pizza’s dinners, Fudge’s instruments, and Rocky’s rock collection. He’d run his mother ragged by running around, throwing things, and setting off fireworks in the house. It got to the point where Pinkie begged Twilight to cast an inhibitor spell on him. Strangely enough, Berry would behave for his father whenever he was home, which might have made Pinkie a little jealous.

He was a natural showpony and class clown, dazzling all the foals at school with his tricks and the fireworks he could create. He did have a problem with controlling his magic, which has caused property damage and injury, so Twilight Sparkle and Starlight Glimmer had to teach him how to control it. Given his trouble with paying attention in school, he hated to sit through extra school.

His older siblings found him really annoying, and worried about his destructive nature, so they’d usually try to divert his attention whenever he came in to play. Like any colt, he’d be frustrated with his siblings avoiding him. However, with the arrival of C.C. and her growing old enough to play, he was satisfied with having a best sibling friend to play pranks with. He’d be her spotter when she flew, while she was her assistant when he did magic tricks, and was there when he earned his cutie mark.

Cheese and Starlight Glimmer convinced The Great and Powerful Trixie to take him under her wing and teach him the ways of stage magic. She only accepted because it would do good for her reputation to pass down her knowledge to the next generation, and wasn’t too thrilled with the eager beaver she was dealing with. She did warm up to him over time, because even with his tendency to get all overly firework-y to the point that it scared her, he did have passion for the art and wanted to improve. Dare she say it, she was actually proud of this crazy kid when he perfected a trick!

After graduating from her tutelage and striking out on his own, he’d be known for starting and ending his shows with literal BANGS. Aging did mellow him out—slowly and surely, since he still has that youthful vigor, but he’s learning to be more careful with his magic, especially for the times he visits his family back home.
