Sweet I've been waiting for this. Aren't control points awesome! I use them in Viveza.

depends on the variance in light... my foreground was dark, and the sky was bright, so I wanted to be able to capture that full range... if I had done only 3 exposures, then the sky would have been much brighter, maybe over exposed
Even if there isn't a huge light variance, it still doesn't hurt... just takes up more hard drive space and memory when processing both of which I have plenty of

I wasn't sure if I liked it at first or not... but the fact that I can do 99% of what I'd otherwise have to do in Photoshop makes it quite a nice tool to have. And now that I'm more familiar with all of the controls and what they do, I actually prefer it to Photomatix...
The one thing I still like Photomatix for is the batch processing feature. Can't do batch processing with HDR Efex at least not yet...

i pulled out my old CD with V1 of efex and pulled in to with lightroom and i cant find a way to align the image and reduce ghosting
in photomatix 4 you can select cirten parts of an image and reduce ghosting in those parts insted of the hole image making it very powerful for shooting with people without a tripod
i did this one [link] 3 exposures on a fisheye lens with no tripod with every one moving and it turned out nicely
ill play around with efex but im more comfortable with photomatix
and yes batch processing is a large help for panoramics XD
i like your photos btw

So, you don't work with a RAW file in HDR Efex? Ever?

Especially the control points are helpful! Kind of solves rendering 10 different HDR's you need to blend in photoshop to get all details right . I kind of don't agree with that massively dark colored cloud in the middle, but that's all
. The blue tone of that sky itself is waaaay better.

haha... I guess I could try doing something will less dark clouds... but I kinda like the dark clouds... they contrast nicely to the blue, and the orange and yellows of the autumn trees

It's just that single one, the super dark one

Ja, it was dark to begin with... got even darker when I processed it... all well, not my best work... but it's mainly for the tutorial
