Description So I have had this concept or storyline in my head for a bit about a Temple to some deity that requires sacrifices, in this case turning people into golden or otherwise statues. I can't put the full concept here until I write the general story which I hope to post along with a few more image sets.

This was pretty complicated and it was an opportunity to adjust a lot of lighting settings with the layers. The golden statues in particular required a lot of finagling to get them close to the "gold" I was after.

I have to thank the following who I used stock from:

Center Priestess Statue (Amor_Fati_Stock)
Left and Right Priestess Statues (BlooDoveStock)
The Sacrifice (rammkitty-stock)
Alter Relief (FantasyStock)

The rest of the stock was either public domain or stock Ive bought over the last few months.

I hope to do more around this and other concepts I have been sketching out offline.

Sorry been away for a bit... catching up busy RL I use GIMP so I don't know the equivalent. In terms of metal is how I apply a gradient map. I choose a metallic gradient and with some finagling of the map and use of some filters... I get a metal effect. I'd have to get my specific gimp directions and post them sometime.

Stone I use a texture and basically utilize a multiply effect on a layer ..

I'll track it down and get it to you tomorrow. I have to work on some techniques anyways. Focused on some doll making techniques but I need to do some more statue concepts

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. Had fun with a nasty snow storm then got distracted

In Gimp for a metal effect the primary way I do it as follows, keep in mind that depending on the quality of the image, lighting, and color you may need to play with things a bit.

1) I clean out the background with either a layer mask or manually with the eraser tool (usually the last), also Add a Alpha Channel to make it transparent before cleaning out.
2) I duplicate the layer.
3) The top layer I select Color->desaturate to Desaturate the image.
4) Select the bottom (original layer)
5) In GIMP I use the Chrome effect not sure PSD names it the same I think it does.
6) Select the top layer again, I then chose a metallic gradient, in GIMP either Brushed Aluminum, Golden, or a Steel one I have used ... usually the Golden works the best for some reason.
7) Edit from there, I have actually had a good ability to do different metals by using the paint brush in color mode to change it to a copper, silver, brass, etc ... which is a good idea as sometimes the Gold is to strong...

Hope that helps, I don't have PSD (can't afford it)... but that is what I have thus far for that effect. Still perfecting the technique because I'm insane that way

I don't , but I can look. The chrome effect in general is a basis. It does look funny until you apply the gradient. Just for the record it doesn't look very metallic until the gradient is applied.

It is basically a range of colors put together, that you apply to an image in a variety of ways. I am not sure what the PS commands are but in terms of GIMP there it is Color->Map->Gradient Map. Try this link: [link]

Thanks. I may be making more statues to perfect the technique but I like how they came out in general. Thanks for the kind words!
