Viki the Third encounters a fairy sentry at the boundary of the Dark Forest. This fairy is tasked with the duty of keeping the forest secret and hidden from outsiders and transforms those who wander by, into creatures that will maintain the secret by their lack of speaking ability with other non-transformed humans. The fairy sentry has a wide latitude in which creatures she chooses to form from the interlopers and intruders.
