Description
It has become apparent to me a ton of people like thsi not a day goes by where its not faved by someone. If any of you want help I am always here. Just note me and I'll see what I can do.Edit: I forgot the alula feather
If you want to know any thing else just ask. Basic bird and feather tutorial. It was really hard to do the steps 1-3 is how i draw any kind of bird just change the bill and shape slightly. All i can say is if you want to learn how to draw birds just draw those two circles and google up some images. Beaks always got to me so don't feel to bad if you fail as much as i do sometimes. Download for full size hope you like it. Most of these I drew by hand and scanned in strait out of my sketchbook. Let this tutorial give rise to a new breed of artist, not the wolf artist or the equine artist but the bird artist

I'm glad you added an "angel" paragraph. I found this tutorial because I wanted to show someone reference material on how to draw birds. And it happens I'm also drawing an angel at the moment. So it's 2 birds with 1 stone

I was constantly looking at this tutorial when I was drawing this!
I don't think I did the feathers justice tho, pfft. But I tried and I shall keep on practicing.

Very helpful. My high school's mascot is a falcon and in my digital art and design class we were asked to revamp our falcons logo. Not knowing anything about drawing birds, I pulled your tutorial up and started sketching. Thank you do much!

Do you think you could make a tutorial for the tail? I've been working on my bird drawings lately (specifically hummingbirds) and I can never get the tail down.

Ummh... It's a good tutorial okay, because there are many bad wing tutorials out there and this one has more than just the actual wings. BUT (my favourite word ) I would prefer you doing larger wings. Birds wings are so big compared to their bodies. Especially that goose's sceleton makes me pretty sick. Definitely too small wings and the angle of the wings looks pretty painful to me. Those angles are also something you should take a look at. Birds have the same angles in their wings as us humans - shoulder, elbow and wrist - don't forget the frekin' elbow! *kreh*
Amen. End of complaining. (this gotta be some kind of hobby of mine and you asked for critique, didn't you?) And please don't take this too harshly, it's just what I do.

The reason the skeleton looks weird is because i didnt draw the wings correct size i knew that i didnt add in any primary feathers i just meated it out. I have had an extensive experience with birds I know that the basic idea is one wing length is equal to the length of the body in most cases (cranes, peacocks, etc are excluded). Very true birds do have the same joints as humans i believe they all fit that description. What other angles are you questioning? What would you change I dont mind the crit I just want to know how to fix it ^^

Oh, lovely, someone didn't actually get mad about my comment. :3
Well, it's just that what I see there, is that the goose's wrist turns almost like to the backside of the goose. Try to get your wrist to that angle. : S Yeah. But you really seemed like someone who isn't completely oblivious what comes to birds, so I'm sure you realize the mistakes you have done.

ah I see it now thank you ^^ i kept looking at the skeleton and then realized the circles are whats making it do that. Thank you I will be sure to fix that up. And I'm glad you critiqued it some people just dont understand a good comment.

This is really helpful, especially because it actually goes through the different feather and beak types in addition to realistic wing postures It annoys the heck out of me when I catch myself (or someone else) draw weird flowy things and try to explain it off as wings just 'cause it looks cool. I'm glad that you took the time to do all that.
