I would love to see you draw a full HULK comic.
You versions of his 'raging out' would be fantastic to see, in all their exaggerated glory.

NICE!
How are you getting the copics not to bleed into the black?
Are you using Pitt Brush markers, or something else for the line work?
Or is it the cardstock?
I can't seem to get the right combination to stop colors from mixing in with the black line!

Hey John,

It can be a bit tricky depending on the ink and papers. But currently I'm using a W&N #2 sable with Koh-i-Noor 8405 ink on cardstock. The ink flows really nice and dries well. Once in a while if I'm going to town with a marker it can pull a touch of the ink, but that's pretty rare. Just give the page time to dry and you should be good.

I've used the Koh-i-Noor 8405 ink, never tried copics over that, only other markers...that must be the problem! What type of "cardstock" are you using? I just use Strathmore 2ply 400.

BTW...I'm a 'big' fan of the work you guys are doing! Wish I had some peeps around me that were creative I could join up with.

Have a great time at HEROES. I had to cancel it this year.

Strathmore Bristol and cardstock are two different beasts. Bristol uses cotton fiber which bleed and hold the marker making it tough to blend. The cardstock I'm using is Neenah's Classic Crest. It's designed for printing and takes the markers well. [link]

Another alternative is the Strathmore drawing papers. They take the markers really nicely and create a bit of a watercolor look. Unfortunately the slight tooth makes it tougher to get clean ink lines if that's the style you're after.

Ahhh, Neenah paper! I'll have to give that a shot!

Yeah, I've been inking for 30 years...I know all about fibers, cotton, etc...just was curious as to the 'cardstock' stuff.

I found out last year when I was using Strathmore 400 series smooth finish that the makers would smear the ink, I dropped down to 300, and it worked fine, but using 'real' ink and not markers, the real ink bled like spider veins on an old woman's leg!

I love the drawing paper as your right about the color...but also about the ink.

I guess it's just trying new things. I'll really look into the Neenah paper, may friend Vonster just had his new biz cards printed on some of their stock and they turned out great! [ I think you guys know Von? ]
