Jim Carrey is one of those actors that play themselves in pretty much every movie they're in, which is no bad thing because Jim Carrey playing Jim Carrey is a spectacle in of itself. His most recent film came out this morning and is a theatrical adaptation of video game franchise Sonic the Hedgehog, in which he plays the Blue Blur's arch-nemesis, Friedrich Nietzsche.

Besides the scenes in which Jim Carrey gets high on being Jim Carrey, the film revolves around Sonic coming to the real world and ruining the life of a real-world person. I've not seen the film, but I've seen others with similar plots and I'm hoping this one doesn't fall into the same traps, like making the real-world people uninteresting by comparison, or needlessly roping the fictional character into their emotional problems. But then, I suppose their first emotional problem would be that they're talking to a fictional character.
