Description
Man, has it been a rough week. Oh, well, it's nice to sit back every now and again and get back to what I guess really got me to where I am right now; not saying it's a lot, but it's better than nothing, I suppose! Another Nemetrix predator for Ben 10 Reboot, this time for an alien of their own creation! Go check 'em out!Onto the facts!
Name: Rammerhead
Species: Kranosavran
Home World: Mezizorica
Prey: Tricerian (Tricerabone 's species)
Powers/abilities: Rammerhead's primary method of attacking prey is by relentlessly headbutting it into submission. With its nearly two foot thick skull - which is filled with shock absorbing fluid and a protective casing of solid bone in order to prevent serious brain damage - she is more than capable of shattering boulders. Combined with her considerable speed, Rammerhead can easily crack Tricerian bone armor like an egg.
Kranosavrans have the ability to change the color of their skin, though this is notably only between two shades of varying colors. Because Tricerian's can't see the color purple, Rammerhead will usually remain this color in order to stay invisible, allowing her to stalk her prey unhindered.
Rammerhead has enhanced durability and the large hump on her back protects her delicate spine from damage.
Rammerhead possesses a club-like tail that she can use to trip up prey and shatter bones, both internal and external.
Because Kranosavrans feed primarily on the bone marrow of Tricerians, they have incredible jaw strength and sharp teeth, which enable them to effortlessly bite through objects as tough as a lead pipe.
Rammerhead has sharp claws.
Weaknesses: Just like Tricerabone, Rammerhead is very temperamental and is quick to anger. This works against her because her skin will flare up from its 'default' purple to a bright orange - as seen above - in order to appear bigger and more intimidating, allowing Tricerabone to see her.
While Kranosavrans are very durable, they possess a weak spot along their spinal column, specifically where their neck connects to their armored hump. If this spot is struck, it can render immobile of all but the most basic of functions - such as breathing, blinking, swallowing - and leave them highly vulnerable.
Rammerhead has a blind spot directly behind her head, as her horns prevent block her vision. This can allow opponents - provided they are small enough and strong to stay on once she notices - to strike at her weak spot relatively unharmed.
Etymology: Rammerhead's name comes from the words "ram", which means "to strike an object with great force" and "hammerhead", which is the part of a hammer used for hitting.
Trivia: The species name derives from the Greek words "kranos" and "savran", which roughly translates to "helmeted lizard".
Rammerhead's design is closely based upon that of a Pachycephalosaurus, a dinosaur whose thick skull - the only part of the animal that has been discovered and described by science - has led many scientists to believe that they were used in courtship battles, which primarily consisted of the males butting heads like bighorn sheep until a victor was determined; this has yet to be officially proven however. Other influences include the Pokemon, Rampardos - whose design is also based on a Pachycephalosaurus - and various other dinosaurs, such as Stygimoloch, Tyrannosaurus Rex, and Ankylosaurus.
Like Pachycephalosaurs are theorized to do, Kranosavrans headbutt to fight for mates and settle disputes.
Tricerians find it to be a great insult to be compared to a Kranosavran, due to the two species - despite conflict - sharing a legendary temper that is on par with Appoplexians.
Tricerians that manage to defeat a Kranosavran in honorable combat quickly notoriety and power. It is almost unheard of for a single Tricerian to defeat multiple Kranosavran in combat, although there are legends . . .

In all honesty, if I could go back, I'd probably make a lot of changes. Specifically, to make it look more alien than like a weird, mutant Pachycephalosaurus and to make it purple instead of orange, since their prey can't see the color purple. It was because of this fluke that I had to write in a supposed color-changing ability that I feel was out of place and altogether unnecessary in concept, but necessary because of that one, easily avoidable mistake.

Yeah your own version of Tricerabone, considering how good your art is, it should be even better than the original.

It could be done, but not any time soon. I have a mountain of requests to get - including your own - before that could ever happen.

...So the Pachycephalosaurus in LBT 1 were these guys? (It would explain a lot if the Land Before Time cast were just prehistoric animal-like aliens actually...)

I highly doubt that. For one thing, I'm pretty sure they didn't have four eyes.

...Maybe they're a subspecies? In all seriousness though, this is a great predator, and I like how the bone-shattering, headbutting (theoretically anyway) Pachycephalosaurus is the natural predator of an organism with a high focus on bones.

Yeah, I figured it was appropriate enough. As for the theoretical head butting, there doesn't seem to be much proof leading up to it.
Most scientists have concluded that, while a Pachycephalosayr's dome was quite thick, there wasn't any way they could have bashed heads without killing themselves (though this could be proven wrong by the fact that a majority of their skulls are found with fractures and signs of trauma). What is more likely is that instead of bashing heads they used them for either shoving matches or ramming any other part of the body BUT the head.
At least, that's my theory. As far as I know, we only have skulls of Pachycephalosaurus and not much else.

Personally. I'm unsure. What I find to be most mutually satisfying answer (for the people who look at prehistoric animals as forms of cinematic entertainment and the the people who care about the scientific truth) is that they would headbutt each-other at a young age (while their skulls are hard, but not abnormally hard like their fully-mature superiors), but learn from experiences and maturity that such an action is risky, and the more logical option is to aim for the neck or the spine (there's a grim visual for you; a Pachycephalosaurus savagely ramming the spine of one of their own in a death-match).

Yeah, that seems like the most logical (or at least the most compromising) explanation.

Hi, this is a cool predator but if your going to make a predator for Tricerabone, can you please make your own version of the Alien.

I'm in charge of the Ben 10 fan reboot project that both tricerabone and Rammerhead are a part of, FFW1 didn't need permission to make the predator as he is part of a 4 man team, he doesn't need to, hear is a link to the folder with everything we've done so fare sans Rammerhead as I haven't given it the proper digi-inking/coloring yet: thewalrusclown.deviantart.com/…

Huh, nice
my friend helped me wiht a predator with a similar head to that called Hampount It's basically a wyvern-like creature that is one of XLR8's predators. It can create a field on the ground around it that has an effect on static electricity that makes movement of any kind nigh-impossible.
