Well, it's that time of the year again. The time of year where your teachers try to cram in as many lessons and units and homework as possible before the end of the year rears its ugly head and they don't see you again until the fall. Only for me, I won't be seeing them because I'll be graduating. Fantastic! Needless to say, I don't have much time to do anything I want because of this little factor, so I apologize to all my watchers and clientele that have asked for requests and have been waiting for quite some time.

Unfortunately, this doesn't mean that you can expect anything to come immediately after I graduate because that means I gotta start figuring out how I'm going to survive in this hellhole of a world we live in and still have time to post for you guys. Fun, right?

Alright, calm down, Fanficwriter1, it's not the end of the world. Yet. So to ensure that you all know that I'm still alive and that I care about you all, I decided to post this little puppy (not exactly a puppy, but you get my point). This guy's been sitting in my sketchbook for the past few eons and I decided it was high time to fire up the ol' genetic splicer to see how he turned out.

Onto the facts!

Name: Volcaniguana

Species: Volcanic Manzardill

Home World: X'Nelli

Powers/abilities: Similar to their polar cousins, the Polar Manzardills, Volcanic Manzardills can fire off an intense beam of pressurized magma from from their mouths or the volcanoes on their back with remarkable accuracy. This allows them to near instantly melt anything they come into contact with.

Volcaniguana is very durable thanks to his shell and the layer of volcanic rock that forms over him.

Lava will actively erupt from holes in Volcaniguana's back, running down his sides and making him very dangerous to touch. This further proves that Volcaniguana is also impervious to molten magma, both inside and out.

Volcaniguana's have sharp claws and teeth that they can heat to an excruciating temperature, making a bite or scratch incredibly painful.

Volcanic Manzardills are powerful diggers and move large amounts of earth in little time. They also have a knack for sniffing out precious minerals and rocks, which they usually will not hesitate to ingest in order to keep their internal 'furnaces' burning.

Weaknesses: The volcanoes on Volcaniguana's back make it difficult for him to move in small places, or move in general as they also restrict his speed. In addition, they are nearly always belching out toxic vapors and radiating immense amounts of heat, making him a hazard to stand next to for long periods of time or even touch.

Due to the habitat in which they inhabit, Volcanic Manzardill's do not have the best eyesight and will sometimes bump into objects.

While they are quite resistant to cold temperatures, Volcanic Manzardills don't get along well with Polar Manzardills and the two species try to avoid one another as much as possible to their respective elements.

Etymology: Volcaniguana's name is a combination of the words "volcanic", referring to his powers, and "iguana", which alludes to his reptilian appearance. It is also based on Arctiguana 's name.

Trivia: Volcaniguana's appearance is similar to that of the Pokemon, Camerupt.

The volcanic cones on a Volcanic Manzardill's shell are not genetic. They form over time when they 'erupt' and the resulting magma cools and solidifies into their respective shapes, forming a durable armor over the Volcanic Manzardill's back.

Unlike Polar Manzardills, Volcanic Manzardills have the hottest blood of any sentient species in the universe (that has blood, at least). It's only a few degrees shy of the universal temperature of evaporation.

Every fifty years (on X'Nelli), the entire Volcanic Manzardill population will gather in one particular location and participate in what has been dubbed by scientists as "mass erupting", in which they all erupt at once and shoot millions of gallons of molten magma into the air and down upon themselves for seemingly no reason. It is unknown if this is some bizarre mating ritual or other behavioral practice, and if the Volcanic Manzardills even know the reason why they do it, they aren't talking.

The Manzardill home world - X'Nelli - is one of those rare planets in the universe that exists in what is known in scientific circles as the Goldilocks Zone, meaning it is precisely the right distance from the star around which it orbits so that the planet is not too hot, not too cold, but just right, such as Earth. Unlike Earth, however, X'Nelli has no tilt to its rotational axis, therefore enjoys remarkably stable climate conditions in both hemispheres year-round, with the only exception being the polar ice caps at its northernmost and southernmost points. The unchanging temperate climate of the rest of the planet's surface makes this world particularly perfect for cold-blooded creatures that rely on the temperature of their environment to regulate their own.
Volcanic Manzardill's are the complete opposite of their polar cousins and inhabit the scorching equator that circumferences the planet, specifically open lava flows and fields. They usually travel in family units of immediate relation and spend most of their time ingesting rocks and searching for valuable minerals in order build up the amount of magma they've stored in a special, pressurized organ inside their bodies.

Volcanic Manazardills have been witnessed communicating with one another over long distances using smoke signals by cutting off the flow of the volcanic fumes from their backs.
