Description
These are the top five changes I would have made to The Steven Universe movie to make it better.5: Pink Diamond should have been redeemed by the end. I think the movie should have ended with all characters understanding that Pink was at least trying to change instead of seeing viewing her as some sort of monster.
4: I think the bubbled Rose Quartzes as well as the rest of Homeworld should have been played more of a role into the movie.
3: I think that the contents of Rose's mysterious treasure-chest not only should have been revealed in the movie but whatever was inside the chest should either begin or end the movie. Possible thoughts of what could be inside the chest: The Rejuvenator, Spinel herself or something stolen from The Sneople.
2: I liked the ideas of both the Rejuvenator and The Injector but I think instead of Pearl being completely reset, she remembers serving White Diamond.
1: The final change I would have made may be controversial but I think that Pink Pearl should have been the villain instead of Spinel. They already had a great movie plot and villain potential with Pink Pearl so I seriously have no idea why they went out of their way to create a Harley Quinn knockoff and waste screen-time on character development we already knew about. On top of that, we did not need one more Gem to be hurt by Pink in a way that was absolutely unforgivable and destroyed her character for the rest of the series.
If these changes had been made to the movie, then even Steven Universe Future could have been interesting as they could have spent more time developing Steven's corruption as well as completely tying up any loose ends left. If you want to see me do a comic of my version of Steven Universe The Movie, let me know in the comment section.

i don't think pink being redeemed (again) would have fit in the movie, but at the very least they could have made her seem like a not terrible person by the end of future...

She wasn't even redeemed; Steven has decided he hates her forever along with Pearl.

oh yeah, i suppose you're right because for some reason the word redeem in the su fandom implies that steven specifically has determined a person... has put themself on the right path i guess?
i guess i mean to say that pink did change for the better, though it's true that before her death nobody understood the extent of her growth besides the audience D:
idk i think after our pearl heard volleyball's side of pink's story she completely understood her development and doesn't hate her forever, not that she ever did hate pink or rose

I mean it's just a sad ending for Steven to hate his dead mother is all.

i know... some people think it has to do with the views of rebecca herself because of what she's said about her own experiences and feelings and that's really sad to consider

That's his mother, though and Steven hates her, someone who gave her life so he could live.

i've thought about it more and i think how steven views pink is just a result of what rebecca was going with in the show. she said the show is anti-escapist and rose often ran away from the things that bothered her.Β rebecca has also said that a big part of rose's character is about how her self hatred and destruction negatively affects others just as much as it did herself. rose must have ended up being the character that would embody these themes in the show even if her character didn't always deserve the treatment she got.
her death was one of the many things that follows these themes, and it is another one of her decisions that was clouded by her impulsivity, self hating/destructive tendencies and deep genuine admiration for the beings around her. giving birth to steven wasn't done just to give him life, but also to end hers since she 1. admired humans for their ability to grow and change 2. hated herself 3. believed she couldn't change because she was a gem. i view it as her version of suicide, where instead of completely destroying herself she decided to at least give her body to someone else. however her existence was very important and this last act of self destruction unintentionally ended up hurting everyone around her and steven most of all. it's a very gray and complex situation, so that's why i don't see her giving birth to steven as a 100% good thing and i'm not surprised he doesn't see it as that either.
i wish steven had come to view her as a loving person in the show because i love her character and it would be great for there to be something else to help stupid SU fans realize that she wasn't the villain of the show or whatever. but it is true that steven isn't obligated to forgive her or view her in a certain way just because she is his mother. besides, he's only sixteen! perhaps when he gets older his perspective will change and he will see her differently than he does now. sometimes in life things don't wrap up cleanly anyways and that's just how it is.

But he's a part of a team. There was no nest. He's a Chrystal Gem.

sourcreamery In reply to creepypastajack [2020-04-18 00:51:54 +0000 UTC]
the crystal gems aren't just a team, they are a movement. he will always be a crystal gem as long as he believes in their cause. the diamonds aren't a threat anymore and garnet, amethyst and pearl are capable of handling any future conflicts on their own. they made it clear that they will still talk to him and visit him frequently, so it's not like he'll never see them again anyway. beach city and his house were the nest to him because they were where he grew up and he found that now that he's older he needs to leave to continue growing as a person. that's pretty much what a "nest" is.

They probably will. I mean, why else did they leave so much unanswered and create so many new problems that they knew they had no time to resolve in Future?

sourcreamery In reply to creepypastajack [2020-04-20 10:24:48 +0000 UTC]
unfortunately i really doubt that will happen. the crew was surprised when the network suddenly offered to give them a limited extra series so they had to work with what they had. the most important loose ends were tied in future and the major loose end it dealt with was steven's arc, which they concluded.
