Description
The site though it wasn't used: [link]Update
lol nm it was a stupid error its fixed now
-------------
Whats a splash page?
its basically a introduction page to a website before entering the actual site.
---------------
about this
This is the splash page me and my internship group have been working on for our multimedia design and productions course.
Generally the theme is stencil stlye of art within the website. Also the one person in our group came up with the idea of including both the left side of the brain(technical) and the right side(visual). Then both connect to the logo at the bottom(later the button to enter the site) hinting that this program is for those who are artist and are coders.
The animations and coding were done by me but the art was done by a group member. Still working out the bugs but as long as you don't go to crazy with the mouse over the brain it should be good enough.
----General process/story----(I'll mark the key spots if you don't want to read through it with (*))
Basically I sat down with my group member from my internship and I asked him how he wanted this done how he wanted me to animate these.
*first thing we did was . . .*
-plan out how it should come out with basic drawings(story boarding/rough design concepts/brainstorming)
-Then some rough animating coding
-allot of testing afterward(things moving to fast/looked out of place
Then after about 8 hours in fixing his illustrator designs(came out grey instead of black) we parted ways.
few weeks later we showed our teachers whom we had for our internship and they loved it even this one teacher who hates anything I do. So in the end we got our hours in and our 90's

Haha I think I just sat here for five minutes just switching back and forth from the sides of the brain Very entertaining, it is definitely a good entrance for a website!

Wicked! The style is great, pure. It really is nice.
Just one thing - not sure about clicking on the "junction." Guess lot of people would try to click the brain again & again & then leave ^^ Or wouldn't they?

ty this was meant to link to the actual site unfortunately the person who did the web it hasn't released the link to me or the other members at the time. He apparently disappeared off the face of the planet I sent him many emails and facebook messages to no luck.

idk it must have been screwy with the illustrator file when I imported it but we had to change each piece individually to black in flash so it wasn't a lost cause.
You can still do vector stuff in photoshop though the layering system is different(not a whole lot) you can still pull it off.

Surprisingly allot of the tools in illustrator are the same in photoshop though it might be missing a few things

I only saw the illustrator program and used it once. I think there are brush tool... and other tools that made no sense to me(woops, don't know how to use them...) I messed up...

Very, very trippy!
If I had a web site I would be proud to have this as my splash page.
I really like the simplicity of the designs. The detail in the ' popouts ' of each side still allow the image to remain simple but striking.
Super cool work! I imagine you put a lot of time and effort into this piece.
I wish I knew more about this kind of thing to give a good comment on it.

This is really cool-I like the whole left/right side of the brain thing, and the way you choose to depict it. Seriously this would make such a cool tatoo - can't decide which side I like the most, the technical or the visual side (as a tat I mean) XD

I like the shape, but at first glace it looked like there's too much space. But because the unusual combination of brain and lines thing combined with the logo, it did arouse my interest as what concept was behind this work.
The emptiness bothered me though, till I moved my mouse over it and I was like "wow!" Quite fun to play with haha (I was trying to get both sides to appear at once lol) I like the addition of color and the animation. A fascinating piece, well done.

Thanks
the reason why we made it with too much space is we were putting it on a web page and we wanted to make sure it blended in well with the white background on the html page and the animations didn't cut out on the sides on our flash application. Thus we created a focal point in which with the white made the viewer eyes pay attention to the center of the page where the brain was.
