As a kid, I thought the Zarana / Mainframe pairing was really weird. But now, I kind of like it.
Sure, it's one of the oldest Tropes in the book, but G.I.Joe could use more shipping.

Definitely. I have a theory that a lock of Shipping \ Shippable couples is one reason why G.I.Joe is not as popular nowadays. If you look at Shipping tropes on TVTropes, other cartoons like Transformers have tons of fan couples, but the Joes and Cobras are rarely mentioned.
