  “I’d like to see Jervis Tetch.”

   “Really? That one’s been very popular lately. He’s in cell block 2, cell #112644.” The secretary answered filing her long pink nails.
Edward nodded his thanks and pushed onward. He reached the cell she had told him, to find it empty.

    “Cell number 112644.” Edward sighed. “That senseless woman told me the wrong number.”

  It’s common knowledge that most, given the circumstances, seem to be very close to the thing they try to remember. People with poor memory or, in her case, poor brain capacity, may actually miss only one little thing. In this case a number.
Given that cell block two only goes from 112000 to 113000. I can deduct those numbers pretty easily. Sure, I can walk up and down the block but that could take a while.

  The two ones are really just there to describe the cell block, a juvenile system imitating roman numerals.
Looking closely, the rooms in this block are all even. Since I have already passed 112644 any below is immediately disregarded.
Therefore my options become 112646 -- 113000. Knowing this I can clearly see which number was unknowingly changed by that idiotic woman, the first four. Now that I know this, there are only two choices I can make, 112664 and 112684. Seeing that the woman’s number was 112644. I can now deduce that the true room number is similar to what she told me.

  In this case the double numbers. Knowing that my last two choices are 112664 and 112684, I’d have to go with sixty six, instead of eighty four. Of course this is all just speculation.
Edward looked inside cell 112664 and saw Jervis reading inside.
Though, my speculations are always fact.
