As it's one of the things that's so compelling about your designs, I have to ask; how to you make that intricate linework that makes up the shading in this picture the way you do?

Sometimes I use the blend tool, but sometimes I need to draw line by line...It's a hard work. I'm trying to improve the method and make everything by a easier way.
