Somehow posting things makes me feel more productive, even when they're not done yet.

Anyway, my entry this year for the court-records Phoenix Wright OC contest. Been working on and off on this thing, even if not much is done on it at all >.< Will get it colored and captioned some other time, I guess.

Referencing a couple of (obvious) things with this character. The ridiculousness and puns and things just seemed to fit that whimsical Phoenix Wright atmosphere.

REALLY Abridged Description

Character's Name: Brian Patrick McMurphy (known as BPM by the band and "Flea Weevil" by the fans).

Age: 26

Occupation: Drummer for the popular Children's band "The Weevils."

Brief Physical Description: A perpetually tired look on his face, or is that depression? Short with a slouch, which makes him even more diminutive in comparison to the rest of his band mates. Looks older than he really is...or would were it not for the things that they force him to wear. Always seen with his leather jacket, which has been adorned with playful buttons and patches at the behest of their publicist.

Brief Personality Description: "The Stupid one," "The Silly one," "Mr. Mellow" are a few of the monikers that listeners of the Weevil music place on poor Flea, though he does seem to live up to the majority of them. Mellow, seems to take on a very "Que Sera Sera" tone to life, despite the Weevil band starting to tear apart at the seams and his bandmates arguing back and forth. Doesn't seem very bright. This of course isn't quite true, nor is he quite so fatalistic as people take him to be. Deep down he is someone who believes strongly in his craft, strong in loyalty, though at the same time susceptible to feelings of betrayal, sometimes with disastrous results. Has a terrible temper, but this is something that people are unaware of thanks again once more to their publicist.

Connection to Canon Characters: The Weevils once upon a time used to be the Silver Pistols, the Gavinners' main rivals for a short period of time before the bottom fell out of things and their band had to take on a new persona.

Brief Background: Born poor, raised poor, but became rich, that's how he usually presents it. Flea's life was never that easy--he recalls being in a gang when he was younger just for survival before he found music and it "set him straight." Enjoyed a brief stint of popularity when he drummed for the Silver Pistols, then a downturn, and then skyrocketing popularity again when the Weevils came into play. However, he is now playing a witness in the case of his bandmate's death.

Once upon a time the Silver Pistols were one of the world's most up and coming bands. Good music, charismatic personalities, actual talent, the band seemed made for success... until some unfortunate comments from the Band Leader David brought a fall to their popularity and a seeming end to the Silver Pistols.

That was until band member Mike suddenly made a deal with a television show...and they were reborn as the Weevils. Renamed Boll, Clover, Bean, and Flea and reinventing themselves, they suddenly became one of the biggest children's acts in the hemisphere. After celebrating years of success, however, David (now Bean), started to feel restless, and talked often about how he felt like he had grossly sold out for this success. Mike (now Boll) however disagreed, and there have been rumors of David leaving the Weevils to start afresh with a professional band.

...until David was found dead one night in his dressing room, shot multiple times. Several signs point to either a psychopathic fan, or, perhaps a more popular assumption, that his bandmate Mike had something to do with it. Brian allegedly saw Mike leaving the area just after David was shot...

...but there are signs that the man knows more than that...
