Spades ain't the instrospective type, at least that's what he tells everyone who has, for some reason, the inclination to ask. The past was shit, and the present, lost amongst capers and murders and jazz clubs and everything else, don't leave much time to sit around and think about bull-fuck that doesn't matter anyway. He made this goddamn town, the fuck is there to think about anyway?Though he may admit to himself that sometimes in the middle of the night when the rest of the crew are off or asleep and their capers and "everything else" are done, he might sit around with nothing to do but plunk at a piano that he still has for some reason. And maybe sometimes the music reminds him of somethin, and sometimes he lets that happen. Sometimes he even thinks about it.
But that's just three-in-the-morning. Nothin more to it.

Ok as if the picture itself didn't have a beautiful atmosphere already, the story just made it complete. This isn't the most impressive to the eye homestuck piece that is out there(I'm not saying it's not greatly drawn, because IT IS, there's just a lot of crazy artists in the fandom ), but it's definitely one of the best I've ever seen. It makes the viewer think which isn't something any flashy, insanely-detailed but otherwise bland picture can do.
In short, this touched my heart string.

Wow. This has a lovely tone to it - both the image and the writing. It captures the essence of the philosophical mood that permeates the hours between midnight and dawn, and it reveals a side of Slick that we haven't seen before, but which still fits perfectly within his character.

Sad Slick is the best thing. Maybe because he is possibly the most aggressive guy in all possible universes normally. It's like flipping over a beetle and seeing the squishy underside, and it's flailing its legs all squiggly trying to turn back over. And then it bites you.
I'm not entirely sure what that metaphor meant.

That's an excellent little ficlet there. It's very Spades. It's hard and badass, and at first there doesn't seem to be much emotion to it, but somewhere in it's black little heart, there's a melancholy piano solo just plunking away into the night.
