LORE
The hulking Titan knelt behind a rock, barely protected from the Hive energy blasting his position. He looked down at his hand cannon. Only one magazine left. His shotgun currently held two shells, and his rocket launcher had been empty for ages.
"Tell me again why we're still here, and not flying back to the Tower?" he heard his Ghost ask into his ear.
"Everyone on VanNet says that this mission is impossible to do alone," he grunted before standing up to aim his weapon. Two shots rang out. Two Acolytes fell. Four more took their place. "I plan to be the first -- without dying."
"What am I to do then?" she asked petulantly.
A Knight surprised him around the corner. He managed to dodge its sword and blasted it with his shotgun. "How about you find me a way out of here!" he retorted.
She was quiet for a moment, and as he crushed a Thrall's skull with his fist, she called out, "Two o'clock! That lunar base -- there's a weapon there."
Looking over, he saw the building, about fifty yards across the Moon's surface. It was far... but doable.
After gathering himself, he pushed off the rock and sprinted towards the doorway. Shots zoomed past him, some hitting their mark, but he didn't stop. In a final burst of Arc energy, he pushed through the doorway and slid behind the wall. Alarms blared in his ear, and he winced in pain, but he was alive.
He found the gun his Ghost had mentioned. It was an old rifle, looked pre-Golden Age. Looking around, however, he could only find one magazine. Just then, an Adherent's Soulfire whizzed past his head. He cursed to himself. "Why do they never seem to run out of ammo?"
Hours later, a ship flew into the Tower. A battered Titan, his armor dented and scratched, appeared and began to limp away. As he went, he dropped an auto rifle to the floor, where it lay smoking, its barrel permanently red-hot. At the doorway, he turned and looked back at the weapon.
"It's done," he said with a chuckle, then he turned away and disappeared.
