Description Had this built for a few good years now. I was so impressed with myself when I got it completed, and was thankful for having adequate pieces to make it look fairly accurate.
As many might know, I am obsessed with The War of the Worlds by HG Wells. And I also love the Half-life series deeply, so when they include Alien Tripedal enemies, I loved it even more and couldn't resist making one out of Lego.
In time, It will need some updating. I would like to give it proper joints in its legs sometime just for pose-ability sake. But its simplicity is endearing to me.
Enjoy.

This is great stuff, I must ask how you managed to get the body to curve/bend at the top, and you should make the top plate detachable to reveal a brain, so that d0g can rip it off

The tilt in the armour plates is just made from a simple clip hinge. Angled in such a way that it rests nicely.
Haha if I had more bits to work with, maybe that would be possible

I could put some together on LDD and post them here. It's not a very functional Strider creation, but from the outside it looks roughly nice.

*squeee!*

The only thing I'd say it needs, down on the bottoms of its feet the Striders have several spiky bits. It might also help stabilize it for standing.

>_> now needs D0g to come along and rip its little brain out...

I've tried all kinds of various ways to make the spines look as less rediculous as possible. And also because I am limited in pieces, it makes it more difficult. In time, when I acquire more pieces I will be sure to add to it

Making dog is anothe challenge I am up for.
Thanks for the kind words!

no problem. Did a search for Gman and loved that one too. <-- is Zekiran on the steam forums if you're there. I'd definitely think you should show these off over there in the hl2 section. Very neat.

This does look like HG wells tripod and the half life tri-pod.

From what I've read, the Combine Striders were inspired by the Martian Tripods. Either way, they make for a very awesome and sometimes frustrating enemy.
