It's been way too long since I've last drawn my boy!!
Sadly, no animation this time, but a new ref was way overdue!
I brought back the old sleeves cause I think people liked those better! Also, changed up the colors slightly and drew his hair a little differently so the sideburn things make a bit more sense! I promise this is the last time I change him up!!! (hopefully ^^")
He also has a new outfit now!! But it's kind of like a patient gown so it's not really good news for the guy..

Anyway, before I info-dump about him, if any of you have open point commissions, please let me know! I'm always looking for art of him!! ^^

Name: Arthur ("Barb" is the last name given to him as a cruel joke)

Nicknames: Wire Boy, Bug-Eye Barb (rude, but okay)

Age: 17

Backstory Summary:
Arthur is an unfortunate victim of being in the wrong place at the wrong time, ultimately resulting in him getting kidnapped by some morbid "scientists" at a young age and used as a lab rat since. If you were to ask him why, all he'd be able to tell you is that he's an "experiment," but, truth be told, he's not sure what the purpose of what he goes through is, and he's stopped pondering what it may be. Over the years he's been subject to bizarre experimentation through an even stranger use of surgery-like procedures and curse-potions, which left him with a bunch of wires sticking out of him and a flashlight for an eye (which he can turn on and off by flicking his nose). For example, the wires were physically put in him, and a curse was added for good measure to make sure they can't be physically removed. Nowadays, he spends most of his time in a cell keeping to himself, no longer entertaining the idea of escaping and instead focusing on coping with whatever life throws at him.

(Please keep in mind Arthur is part of a future comic, so I left some things vague/open-ended and this is only the basics of his character and situation!)

Personality:
Though most people who come across Arthur may find him to be unsettling because of his appearance, quiet demeanor, and excessive eye-contact, he's actually a very gentle and compassionate person who simply prefers observing the people and things around him rather than directly interacting with them. He can be a bit absent-minded sometimes and struggles to focus on more than one thing at a time, but he's also able to notice subtle details in the people and things he's focusing his attention on that others may miss. Because of this, he may be able to figure out the true nature of a person or situation, but can be prone to ignoring what he notices in favor of sticking to a more comforting version of the truth. Because of the horrible situation he's in, Arthur learned to find comfort and happiness in the little things in life, such as through his hobby of shadow hand puppetry (which he developed after the "flashlight-eye" thing) and the company of the many bugs in his cell, which he's very fond of and values as much as he would a human friend (not very healthy, but it helps with loneliness).

Extra Stuff:
- Mantie is Arthur's best bug-friend who occasionally escapes the cell through small gaps to get him tiny plants and flowers.
- Arthur is extremely hard to anger, as he's surprisingly patient and collected, but if someone ever were to make him angry, it'd be near impossible to convince him to consider forgiving them.
- The only things that truly scare him are the thought of harming anyone and scientists (unfortunately, he associates anyone wearing a long coat with scientists).
- He's very quick to get deeply attached to anyone who shows him any kindness.
- He's very protective of the people he cares about and will give them way too many second chances.
- He's unlikely to talk to others unless they talk to him first.
- He has no sense of humor but will still laugh at things out of politeness.
- Despite not doing anything all day, he's usually tired.
- Tends to take things too literally.
- He can't remember much about his life before the scientists, only bits and pieces mixed with false memories.
- He's also illiterate.
