How can you measure a moment in time when you can’t even siphon it out?
Why bother measuring hours and minutes and seconds?
Time would be so much more practical if we could add it whenever we like
What’s there to stop us from doing that? What’s in the way?

Time can’t be so indestructible
Time can’t just go on and on
Though day turns to night and night turns to day
I wonder if there’s one last dawn

Dawn comes, but no one ever asked for it
Why must the day begin when
Daytime brings the sorrow of the past one million years
And night lets us sleep through it all

How can you let time be measured in seconds and minutes and hours for you?
What can you hope then to gain?
Where can you run from the power and constance of time beating at your front door?
Ever moving forward
Never breaking pace
I wish time would just give us a break

Writing words upon a page—
Does it even make a footprint in the sands of time?
Walking in the river of an ever-moving perpetual force
Can you even break the current?
Can you swim against the current?

“Traveling back and forth through time isn’t possible!
What is this nonsense you speak of?”
“Just have a little faith—why the hell do you care?”
