Actually I think it works just fine. The boarder leads the eye right to the character's face where we see a dramatic contrast between the dark gem and her elbow which makes her stand out. Then the blue is picked up in the eye shadow which helps integrate her in with the boarder and makes her pop out more. I love the pose of this character. It has "air" written all over it.

Air tends to be overlooked as it is invisible, it works wonders.

Air speaks thusly, "I am holding up the sky. But I love to dance and piroette around as well. I hold back the solar wind and love life. I am motion, even still." Your pieces speak to my heart. I love the strength in the face of Air, and the pose evokes movement, even at rest. Marvelous and inspired!
