Lapinfe

As I explored the Fruit Bowl Woods, I kept seeing out of the corner of my eye glimpses of something fluttering and darting around the many flowers that are here. It was only by sheer luck that this tiny specimen decided to rest on some of the fruit I was gathering. I suspect that they act much like hummingbirds dancing from one flower to the next drinking in the nectar but they also seem to collect the pollen too. I watched in fascination as it dusted off its fluffy cuffs of any pollen before storing what pollen it had collected into the puff on its tail. Perhaps they have a nest or a collective hive? They fly too fast and are far to elusive for me to track and observe enough to answer this question.

Schiplach

This small creature no more than eight inches long from snout to tail ambles along the grasslands at a slow pace; and trust me when I say this you will smell it before you see it. It produces a foul-smelling stench from the nodules from its leathery shelled back, but what is most fascinating is the fact that it seems to be able to change the scent whenever they need to. I have found one that stinks of rotting meat another one that has an alluring floral scent, it seems they change it to whatever their insect prey of choice finds the more attractive to get them into snagging range. At first, I thought this to be case of regional variants but while drawing this specimen I got too close and startled it; it went from having a wonderfully pleasant floral scent to a nearly overpowering smell of putrid diarrhoea. So, my advice is to give them a wide berth if you spot one.
