Artist note: someone suggested that i make Felonapes into Plushies, if this book takes off i will look into that!

Felonape [Ocean Variant]

They swim close to the ocean floor or near its parents own reef. Using their horn frill around the base of their backs they gather sand and soil to grow their own camouflage garden. What plants and coral they use depends on the temperature and environment, they like to decorate these gardens with loose shells and other shiny rocks and pebbles. Unlike its artic cousin I do not believe that these Felonapes are capable of breathing air as they never strayed from the water but instead swim in the shallows of their mother’s shell. However, like all the Felonapes I have met there are curious and playful creatures who are quick to understand agreeable relationships with other beings; I had helped one Felonape with some of their coral that had gotten knocked off making sure to plant it more securely. Within an hour I had become the hairdresser for the colony as they kept swimming up to and crowd around my feet with shells and other stuff they wanted me to carefully put on them.

I made it a point to sit on the edge near the front of Mama Reef as I am calling this one so I could dip my toes in the warming waters and watch these adorable critters and also to spot other sea faring creatures that swam nearby.
