Description Manticore
Manticores are dangerous predators that roam torrid regions, like deserts and savannahs. These monsters rensemble huge, powerful lions, with a bright brass-colored mane (majestic in males, more fluent in females) crimson fur, and a dark brown chitinous armor on their back. Said armor covers the whole of their long tails, at whose end sit a number of poisoned stingers. The main stinger functions just like a scorpion's one, directly injecting the creature's strong poison into the victims. However, the minor stingers are just as lethal, for the Manticore is able, with just a swing of the tail, to launch these spikes like poisoned arrows to hit is target from distance.

Besides its tail, the Manticore also possesses a muzzle that presents a mixture of human and lion features. However, the mouth of the creature cointains 3 rows of needle-sharp teeth, ideal for rendering the flesh of victims with the aid of its sharp talons. Highly territorial, Manticores often scout their territory, signaling their possessions with secretions and their trumpet-like roars.

The Manticore is a lone hunter, able to prey on nearly any being in its habitat. They hunt by ambushing prey from afar, using their stingers to paralyze the prey before throwing themselves at the defenseless victim to finish the job. Though they have no difficult taste when it comes to eating, they seem to have developed a passion for humanoid, or however intelligent, prey.

Males and females Manticore are the same size, reaching the height of around 1.2 meters at the shoulder and a head-body length of 3 meters.

Doppelganger
Doppelgangers are weird magical creatures, known for their ability to change form. In their natural form, they look like monstrous humanoid chameleons, with pale scales and often slender and gaunt body structure. Despite their reptilian look, they have unblinking, unexpressive black eyes, much like sharks.

Doppelgangers are masters of infiltration, using their shape-shifting power to its maximum efficience. Their scales, mutagenic and flexible, and their unstable genetic code allow them to take the shape of any creature they see. They can form clothes and small gadjets, but these can't be removed without changing form.

Doppelgangers are smart creatures, able to manipulate entire kingdoms while assuming many identities to help them in gaining more power. Most of what they do aims to help them in gain power, however they are not humorless, and please themselves with pranks other creatures rarely find funny, like breaking up couples (they seem to have both sexes or no sex at all) or instigating a rebellion.

While they prefer to plot behind the scenes, they are competent in the use of every weapon, armor, shield and magic, even if they rarely use those in their true form, recurring instead to their sharp claws and fangs. These creatures can also use their power to blend perfectly with their surround and scale vertical walls. They possess a long, prehensile tail and are excellent climbers. Their bodies also have an incredible regeneration rate.

Doppelganger's power increases with age. While young ones can only assume the shape of targets around their size, there are rumors about older ones being able to absorb form, memories and powers of other creatures. Others are even rumored to be able to change parts of their bodies at will, creating chimeric forms that challenge imagination. Such creatures are incredibly rare, and are called 'Dop Kings', but due to the evasiveness of the species, nobody has ever confirmed such rumors.

However, Doppelgangers still remain widely a mystery, and more has to be discovered on their account.

Chimera
While the term is commonly used to describe a mixture of creatures, its origin is due to this fearsome beast, whose ferocity has few equals. The chimera has the features of three very different beasts: the lion, the goat and the snake. It has both a fur coat and a scaly hide, the two altering each-other along its form. How they came to be, it's widely unknown, though most blame their creation on some mad sorcerer of a past age.

While a Chimera possesses three heads, only the main, lion-like head has a conscience of its own, while the other two are barely extentions of its main nervous system, located in the chest region close to the heart. However, all three of the heads are equipped with the senses necessary for the hunt, plus a bonus: the two goat-snake heads produce a highly toxic neurotoxin that they can bot inject and spit, and the lion head has the ability to releas a form of liquid bile that combusts when in contact with oxygen, thus gaining a fire breath ability.

Chimeras are exceptionally strong, and can claw, bite and kick like a raging demonic fighter. They are lone nomads, always on the move and constantly on the hunt. It's belived that, despite their mane, Chimeras are all females, and reproduce by mating with common lions or, in exceptionally rare cases, with Manticores. The offspring has equal possibility of being of either parent's species.

When a Chimera attacks, survivors are rare, for its bloodlust surpasses the edges of hunger greatly. They seem to possess a natural berserker state, that makes them the ideal living war machine, supposing that one is foolish or brave enough to train one. Many have tried, just a couple survived.

An adult Chimera stands 1.5 meters tall at the shoulder and 4 meters in lenght.

Did this get updated recently? There is a way to "re-send" updated Deviations out to your Watchers. Now, presuming these are all still works-in-progress...

Manticore:
Top-notch on the info's accuracy All of the expected features are present and accounted for, right down to the three rows of teeth. The chitinous tail and stinger are looking especially well done. My only suggestion would be to make the dorsal armor resemble the tail more closely, to better tie the whole design together.

Doppleganger:
You well know that I like these guys already. Nice work on getting those tiny, tiny little teeth drawn in.

Chimera:
I'm loving the goat features in all three faces. The reproductive habits are also quite interesting, if not a bit bizarre. I'd recommend mixing the fur and scales together more fluidly, to accent the monster's, well...chimeric nature. In the case of the scales, they might also prove useful as shielding for the Chimera's lower legs, like the scutes on bird/dinosaur legs. Also, goats have horizontal pupils, so they mighy be more appropriate for the secondary heads than vertical ones.

I seriously have to get over my laziness, sorry bout that. Mind telling me said way?

Manticore:
Thanks. I tried, yet it's difficult to make it work well all together. Some have suggested the tail gets fleshy and furry right up to the stinger, but I'm not too sure bout that...

Doppelganger:
I do, and Thanks. U think black eyes fit them better? Pitch black and soulless, as they take up the lives of others ;D

Chimera:
I tried to be original XD. It's not any easier than the Manticore, damn those pureblood-fixed lions XD. Uhm...interesting, I'll try. What of the tail, is it better scaly or furry? Duh, how come I never noticed THAT?! That's in, as well as snake eyes for the main head. Like the sabre-teeth?

It's typical dragon behavior, really. LOL

When you go to a Deviation's submission page and change the file, a small checkbox should come up under the checkboxes for "add a watermark" and "make available for download"; the checkbox you're looking for says something along the lines of "this edit is minor, your DeviantWatch will not be notified". By default, it's already checked: uncheck it. While this system is designed for image updates only, I've also worked out a way to resend Deviations with just their text updated.

Manticore:
Inspired by the tiger it may be, but that furry-tailed look probably wouldn't turn out very well IMO.

Doppleganger:
Much better.

Chimera:
And it worked XD If you want further inspiration, the Chimeras from the game "Dragon's Dogma" would be a pretty good place to start. Aside from more blending of scales and fur, it doesn't matter to me either way; however, I do think the tail tip could use something...perhaps a rattle composed of coiled ram's horns? Glad to hear it. They're fine, though saberteeth are a pretty common theme amongst monster felines; as this is a Chimera we're dealing with, I think we could be a bit more creative than that: spitting cobra-like grooves come to mind, as do large tooth serrations that somwhat resemble the monster's segmented horns.
