Description Long rumored to be some weird experiment of a mad sorcerer to build himself an army that went haywire, Gremlins have recently revealed their completely natural evolution, and this has brought many to question wether Mother Nature was insane or off for a break when the first Gremlin found his way into the world. Distant relative of Trolls, Gremlins are small primates that inhabit dense jungles and rainforests. Their origins, sadly, mark them also as members of the Fae race, although very minor.

Very strong for their size, Gremlins are able to swing from tree to tree with little to no effort and at great speeds, enough to catch up to and sometimes outrun a running human. They have great agility and are able to run and leap very well. In terms of skeleton, Gremlins are very flexible, able to bend at utterly awkward angles. Their tail is lso very muscular, like other monkeys, and used for additional grip on branches. THeir fur is recognisable, for it is messy, foul-smelling and often has various plant species or fungi make their home in it.

Gremlins are, for lack of better definition, completely crazy creatures. While more intelligent than other primates, on the point of being technically sentient and capable of speech, Gremlins have no concern for society, complex works or even complex thought. They live as wild children, not having a care in the world and having fun with everything they do. One may ask where the problem is with this.ย Well, the answer is simple: their fun comes at the expense of others, be them humans, animals, plants or even other Gremlins. They utterly love to play heavy, often deadly pranks, and often dismantle things just for curiosity or for the hell of it.

Gremlins are nearly perpetually laughing and snickering, no matter what they may see or do. Even if wounded, after some instants of stupor and pain the brain triggers the release of some sort of hormone that numbs the pain and creates an exilarating effect, effectively drugging the creatures. But even without this biological weirdo, the creatures find the way to laugh out of any situation and then go back to do it again. They don't really have any sense of self-preservation or community, and give no weight to the loss of their kin, saluting their fallen with a heartfelt fit of laughter.

Gremlins are omnivores and can eat just about anything they can get their hands on. Although their canines are very prominent, they also have molars, which enamble them to mounch on fruit, and their long tongue is able to grab objects for them to eat without loosing grip on branches. They are predators as well, but their lack of organization makes them kinda sloppy, preferring to swarm over a target to overwhelm it in sheer numbers. Even though they are disorganised, they usually look up to a leader figure as a completely authoritative figure, able to bully his way through the others at will. The 'alpha' role is usually covered by the Gremlin that first started the colony, parent of all the others.

Gremlins appear to be of neutral gender, and seem able to reproduce in a completely asexuated manner. Their reproduction rate is up to debate, and there are two theories about them:

1 An adult Gremlin can birth up to 3 infants for every batch, that means every 3 months or so. The infants are quick to grow and, in a couple weeks, given they survive their relatives's games, they reach full maturity. This accellerated birth has caused many problems, as this gives Gremling a reproductive prowess not dissimilar from that of some rodents, but given their plague-like effects, it is much worse that any rat invasion;

2 Gremlin infestations often correspond with the disappearance of several children. It is believed that Gremlins come in the night to take away children that show remarkable passion for pranks, refusal to grow up, and have an unusual level of fiestyness to them. While it is usually believed that the kids are seen as prey, others believe in another fate for them: they are destined to become new Gremlins the next night, living forever young and careless, just having fun and being naughty. This could draw attention to the mysterious figure known as Boogeyman, as he is said to take away naughty children, so it is believed that, somehow, Gremlins descend and/or serve this creature;

Whatever their origin be, Gremling can become a real problem in populated areas. Also, despite every known law, they have Fae blood running through them, so they possess few magical abilities: they can teleport for short distances, mimic with the environment and, occasionally, model random things, like sticks, into even more random but dangerous things, like a crude machete made out of a stick and a leaf that actually cuts. However, they don't use their magical gifts often.

Good thing is that Gremlins, unless in exxagerated numbers, are usually cowards if a great danger present itself, and are prey of many bigger animals. That doesn't stop them from infesting settlements. In fact, they are a very present problem for many population whom just cn't get rid of these intruders. Gremlins exterminators have been known to wonder around, but sometimes even them could not do much against these creatures.

When standing upright, an adult Gremlin is about 1 metre tall.

A change fromt he usual reptilian green Gremlin, monkeys! I can envision them as monkeys perfectly! Gave them various monkeys features, plus the flipping lip from the Gelada Baboon.

Do they run off cliffs because their flared lips obstruct their vision, like real geladas do?

Gremlin: "Prank wars...prank wars never change." *hurls a whoopie cushion like a grenade*

It's simple but effective for their lifestyle, and it fits their description of having symbiotic algae like sloths do. Plus, it should help them hide in case a prank goes horribly awry.

Y'know what' most 'wrong' with them? They are, technically, Fae, and can perform little tricks such as teleportation and manifesting small objects XD
