Levitanius Horridus
A highly intelligent race of fish-like humaniods, the levitans inhabits the darkest seas, hiding themselves in underwater realms built up by their slaves.
The levitans take their name from Leviathan, their master and, according to legends, their creator.
They're intelligent, cunning masters of cruelty, and nothing pleasures them more than the suffering of others, but they're also curious beings, wanting to learn more of every species, even if only how to submit it.
Levitans are able to breath out of water for short periods, but they emerge only to search for slaves, riches or specimens for their experiments. Also they're very feared pirates, boarding ships and robbing them of everything, crew and passengers included.
Levitans are also known to be the tamers and masters of very many dangerous sea monsters, on which they ride in battle.
