Description Name: Mordred;
Aliases: Witch-Boy, Ghost Prince, Spawn of the Maw;
Height: 1,70 m;
Age: 18;
Current residence: The Dark Tower in the Night Forest;
Alignment: Legal Evil;
Occupation: Sorcerer, Necromancer;

Back in the time the Great Maw was still a rogue Spawn King experimenting to re-obtain his immortality, he had his hunters and mercenaries collect speciments for him to work with. Uncountable hundreds suffered unimaginable pains in his dungeons, but there was a particular one that caught the tyrant's attention: a beautiful fairy, stripped of her powers but still radiating with attractiveness.
Feeling an irresistable urge, the fiend assumed a humanoid shape and came to her. He satisfied his lust on the poor captive for months, before being informed of her being pregnant. Dazed by the new, yet pleasurable activity, he hadn't taken into consideration that fact. Used to have his children himself, he felt nearly nothing at the statement.

When the fairy girl delivered, he was however present. It was a troublesome birth and the poor creature died of energy draining and pain. Unmoved by it all, Terrondhos simply took her corpse and swallowed it. Then he turned his attention to the squirming baby on the cold stone floor. He took it in his arms, examining it. A seemingly healty baby boy, with almost and elven shape to it, with little strands of blond hair (like his mother) and pale skin. The baby then opened his eyes, examining his parent himself. His eyes were green, glowing like emeralds, and had slit pupils.

Feeling the connection between himself and the newborn, his Spawn fatherly instincts rising again, Terrondhos found himself unable to hurt the little thing. Instead, he called for his servants and had them clean the boy and take him in his rooms. The kid was raised by Terrondhos himself, who was not able by nature to be a harsh father, but he still demanded respect of his authority and obedience.

For eight years the youngling lived in the ice fortress, each year becoming more similar to his father in behaviour. He demanded to be treated like the prince he was, and was quite harsh and sadistic when coming to punishments.

One day, a paladin of light presented himself to the metal gates of the fortress, calling for Terrondhos to come out and duel. The king emerged from the dephts of the fortress, and all his minions and son went watching from the walls. Young Mordred felt something inside at the sight of this man, his shining armor and noble spirit tickling feelings he did not think to have. He never knew much of his mother, besides the fact that she died giving birth (Terrondhos skipped the entire first part of their 'relationship'), but maybe she left something in him, a shard of good, that made light a fascinating thing...

Then he saw the paladin ground his father. He screamed for him. Then the knight looked at him. Under the helmet, blue eyes looked directly into his own green ones in surprise, before becoming pitiful. Then a fire started as he stared down to Terrondhos. He bellowed that the king was not worthy to have a child, that he would end his threat and take the kid away, not about to allow such an innocent life to be corrupted. The little one withdraw from the walls, not liking the scene at all. He had seen the man's furious gaze and he didn't like it a single bit. Also, he was scared for his father, the only family he ever had. Then, he heard a roar, and numerous screams, one after the other. Each scream followed by a wild bellow that sent chills down his little back. Then a red explosion of light made him coer his eyes. After that...nothing. Trembling, he looked down the walls to see Terrondhos standing over a pile of ash, in which one could recognize some once shiny armor, now reduced to charred remains.

His father won. His childish cheers echoed all around the fortress, and were soon joined by all the minions around him. Then, he saw his dad leap at the gates. He thought he was just going to enter, but then his father bit on the metal, and began to eat it. All the fortress watched as the tyrant consumed his own gates in an animal-like frenzy. At a certain point, Mordred darted down the stairs and stood right in front of Terrondhos, watching with amazed eyes, just like the other creatures around. Once the tyrant was finished with consuming the gates, they noticed something changing with him. His stomach became of a burning red color, like he had eaten a lit torch. His skin darkened, and enitire plates of metal emerged from his skin. Soon, an armored titan was standing before them, and he bellowed his rage to the heavens.

Scared, the little boy tried to crawl away, but two armored claws got a hold on him. He was picked up in the armored arms of this new creature, who were surprisingly gentle. He looked in the burning yellow eyes, and saw a hint of caring only one creature he met ever had: His father. Terrondhos was holding him, ensuring nobody could get his own and last child away, and the little one surprised everyone hugging the armored monstuosity.

Then, Terrondhos deemed with great voice the fortress as unsafe, and ordered everyone to get a move. With his child in his arms and his army behind him, he descended in the dephts of the earth, arriving into the Underworld.

Mordred was never scared of the dark, but the place quite creeped him out. However, his dad was with him, and he felt safe. Then, they met little creatures barely taller than him. They were many and stared at his father in awe, before beginning to scream in high-pitched voices. Before covering his ears, Mordred made out what they were chanting..."The great maw! the great maw!". Before he could ask his father what they were doing, even more of the little monsters appeared, forming a group far larger than any Mordred had ever seen. All of them stared, before grouping together and bowing before his dad.

This was the start of it all. For nine years Mordred lived in the underworld, trained by His father himself in combat, magic and strategy. The spark of light in him faded, as darkness prevailed. He had not forgotten what the paladdin had done to his father and wanted to do to him, so he came to the conclusions that light creatures are too dangerous and annoyingto be allowed to exist. At least cose to him.

His fairy and fiend inheritance gave him quite a mystical potential, and he was able to wield Black Magic without really suffering consequences. Even if very young, the boy has developed powers even old wizards have come to respect.

When Terrondhos deemed him ready, he gifted the boy with his old Black Staff, and gave him a fortress and minions to command on the surface.

Intelligent and sinister, Mordred is well-aware of his magical prowess, and that made him develop quite a proudish side of himself. He acts very cold and ruthless, stopping at nothing to get what he wants. Sometimes, he's quite spiteful with his foes or prisoners, and his sense of humor is dark as his cloak. Yet, he feels depressed sometimes. Knowing what his father was, he feels like a weird experiment, a bastard. His obsession with becoming an integral part of Earth Demons are in truth conditioned by a shadow from Terrondhos's past, who wishes to exploit the boy...

In his fortress, a dark tower surrounded by a really extended wood, he plans and schemes in a manner not unsimilar to his parent, who's secretly very proud.

Weapon

Black Staff: A powerful weapon that's a mixture of staff and alabard, able to control vast amounts of magical energies. Once the weapon of Terrondhos himself, now it's the prime weapon of his son.

Abilities

Young Fighter: Mordred is well-treined in combat and war, and hw wields his Black Staff as a lethal weapon. In one-on-one combat he's really good;

Black Magician: Not many can wield Black Magic as easily as Mordred. His heritage gave him a most useful skill, and that is using the dark arts without really suffering from it. This gives his magic such an extent that makes him a dangerous foe in any magical duel. His signature attacks are green-yellow flames and purple thunderbolts;

Ghost Prince: Besides dark spells, Mordred appears very fond of the art of bringing back the dead, for that creates minions loyal to (second)death. His partly raising by the Rosdon may also be an explication;

Boy Warlord: Mordred commands legions of Hobgoblins and Orcs, whom he sents around to do most of his dirty war. Some of them feel humiliated to be led by what they consider little more than a toddler, but the Witch-Boy more than once showed them their place and his power, in greenish flames or purple thunderbolts.

Dead Spawn: For some weird reason, Mordred inherited from his father partial Spawn powers. Just like a king, he can devour flesh and create a spawn, only different. He does it only to worthy beings and, when he finds one, he opens his mouth. A green glowing starts to impregnate the air, and then the Witch-Boy begins to inhale. The image of a fanged mouth appears on his face, and the victim is totally deprived of fles, that becoming the sorcerer's feast. The victim then becomes a Spawn Wraith, Mordred's personal guard. Differently from spawn Kings, he feels no attachment to them, if not that for a useful servant, and has no worries in sacrificing them. This ability may also be the cause of Mordred's Necromantic tendencies.

Note: recently, Mordred's dreams have been invaded by a cold, horned dark form, who told him of the legend of the Crystal Crown. In his studies, Mordred discovered what his father was, but he never came to know the Crystal Crown. The item became an obsession for him, leading him to organize a mission to claim it, and become what he should have been.

Note2: the dormant Spawn DNA may have a feeble link with the Spawn hive mind, and that would explain the shadow: the Spawn Emperor, trying to use the thing he calls 'the abomination'(Mordred) to get to Terrondhos.

Note3: Mordred is considered, and considers himself, the avatar of Sauros, for his great powers and leadership of the evil avatars. Indeed he is the reborn power of Sauros, even if just partially. He's only one half of it.

---------------------------------------------------
Well, that was long. I hope to have a decent background for him, and an interesting setting for the story.

Let's see if you can guess who he's a tribute to

Isn't he like Overlord form Overlord 2? witch-boy is the reason why.

The idea comes from that, but he's different. Think of a teenage male version of Maleficent.

Must have missed this in my inbox.

OH MY FREAKING GAWD!

I personally can't place what he is a tribute to, but he does remind me of an old cartoon character from years ago, though I'm fairly sure taht isn't it. lol

In any case, I do like how you handled everything, from his cold, distant relationship with his father to his kinda prissy personality that he gets by way of being a prince.

On another note I can't help but wonder if he ever had another form if his Fae blood would make it look like a cross between a dragon and a dragonfly.

It happens.

cough*Maleficent*cough

Spawn Wraith's creation is indeed not the only thing he inherited. He has that thing in his blood, it just needs a little 'push' from his a little dormant shape-shifting powers.
On a side note, He'll be the wielder of the Crown, and it will embed him with the power of all Earth Fiends, imagine what the kid could do.

I just noticed that after I posted my comment. lol In any case the character he reminded me of was someone else.

Nice. Then only his father would be able to beat him. "Stop trying to take over the world! That's my job! I swear I will make my hands burst into flame and paddle your arse!" I can imagine sending something that powerful to his room has to be a massive ego boost. lol

Who?

He'd probably first beat the Emperor's butt for setting the Crown's legend in his head. "I told you to stay away from that asshole of your grandfather! He keeps filling your damn head with sh*t!"

Oddly, a character of the same name. Mordred Payne from an old CGI show called 'Dragon Booster' a silly, but not back kids show, much better then what we have today. In any case Mordred was the son of a powerful man, a bit of a whiner, but managed to get his greedy mits on some power and then he just sort of took off.

lol I bet their Thanksgiving must be a nightmare.

Duh, I heard something about that.

LOL pretty much every family reunion is XD

Dude, How would you like the colors of the Rosdon's outfits? I plan the usual red-black-blue, but maybe for lay fang you'd like some white? Any preference for the others?

Ravensaurs-Rex In reply to Crystaldemon93 [2011-08-29 16:55:11 +0000 UTC]

Ah.

True.

Hmmm, well Lay is sort of one of them yet not one of them, so it wouldn't be shocking that her colors don't match since she isn't so much one of their group as a personal servant/fangirl of The Great Maw. The basic colors sound pretty good by the way.

Crystaldemon93 In reply to Ravensaurs-Rex [2011-08-29 17:11:51 +0000 UTC]

In this view, Lay's a cleric-spokeperson, so I gave her religious-important looking robes. Since the others robes are all more or less the same color, black strained with red and some blue, I'm not really sure how to make her.
Side note: about hunger, he's wearing a spiked armor, would you prefer it be made of metal or strong leather?

Ravensaurs-Rex In reply to Crystaldemon93 [2011-08-29 22:32:26 +0000 UTC]

Heheh, well that is pretty much Lay in a nutshell. I would go with red and white, very cardinal like.

Hmm, I think leather would suite Hunger better, perhaps a bit of metal here and there, very Nordic in my mind. How does that sound to you?

Crystaldemon93 In reply to Ravensaurs-Rex [2011-08-30 07:42:23 +0000 UTC]

I'l probably mix up some red shades.

It sounds fine, I keep picturing him as a vampiric orc, so leather just fits him all better.

I was thinking that after I finish my current art trades, I could draw a picture of your mage and one of mine fighting magic-style, in a battle that far outshines any from Harry Potter.

Crystaldemon93 In reply to Rafael-Domination [2011-08-23 18:59:58 +0000 UTC]

That would be utterly awesome! From what I saw your style is pretty kickass, and it would be utterly epic to see him fighting in a magic duel. Just to make you know, his spells and surses are very rensembling of Maleficent, the mistress of all evil, own magic attacks. I advise you, his daddy [link] won't be happy with him getting hurt.

Eek, that's a boat load of text
Such a detailed background though, I really like it. The details, like how he uses his Spawn powers, really flesh out a character, and I think (and this will sound weird) that the character drawing matches his background.
