Description After getting the digital version of 'Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon and the Blade of Light' on my Switch and progressing through it slow and steady, I felt compelled to giving an iconic weapon of the Fire Emblem series a try in pixel style: Falchion!

The Falchion, also known as the Kingsfang, is a divine sword forged by the divine dragon Naga from one of her fangs; the blade is the first important weapon in the series, and, in it subsequent appearances, played a pivotal role in slaying the main antagonists. Two separate blades are known as 'Falchion'; one of which was wielded in Archanea, and subsequently in Yllise, while the other is used in Valentia. The version shown here is known as the 'Archanean Falchion'.

When Medeus, the former guardian of the Dragon's altar led Manaketes to war with humanity, Falchion was given by Gotoh to the hero Anri to defeat Medeus and halt the Manakete's reign of tyranny. After Anri defeated Medeus, he founded the Kingdom of Altea where the blade was held and passed down the royal lineage until it was stolen by King Jiol of Gra after the death of Cornelius, the father of Marth and his elder sister Elice. Sometime later, Gharnef, the Dark Pontifex, steals the blade in hopes as leverage against Medeus, but his plan did not come to pass as he was defeated by one of Marth's followers who held the tome Starlight and allow Marth to reclaim the blade and use it to eventually defeat Medeus once more.

The blade has a different appearance in the 'Shadow Dragon' remake, as well as the Japan-only 'New Mystery of the Emblem'

In the Super Smash Bros. series the Falchion is Marth's main weapon of choice with him able to deal more damage if the tip of the blade connects with an opponent compared to the rest of the blade.

I may plan to do the Yllissean Falchion and the Valentian Falchion in the future.
